    Next generation snatch block

Based on what do you stand by your statement? References or qualifications? The word of some dudes on the Internet or Youtube doesn't placate the Board who reviews complaints lodged against licensed professional engineers. That's why math and standards exist. So anyway, back of the napkin...

    Next generation snatch block

Bingo, the failed winch line made one user into two? It's like the mistake of using a trailer ball as a connection. It persists because many people who do that where it fails don't make it to tell others not to. Or my honest suspicion is that most people don't use their stuff that often and...

iPad not receiving GPS like it should

Look it up by model or serial number. Or look in Settings, if you have an option called Cellular or Cellular Data then the iPad has the cellular modem with the GPS chip. If you have a WiFi-only model it's not the end of the world, there's external GPS receivers you can use. More money...

Isn't that a false positive anecdotal position? You know we also never heard about all the parachute designs that didn't work either.

iPad not receiving GPS like it should

Is the iPad a WiFi-only or is a cell data capable? Apple doesn't have GPS available in WiFi-only iPads. I'm not sure if Gaia knows that or whether iOS location services would report this to the apps since location would still be available through WiFi potentially.

ARB Refrigerator causing RFI on handhelds

It's not a simple task tracking down interference but suffice to say RF is not like DC. So what works for a remote battery doesn't means it's good for electrical noise. It can be maddening. Generally speaking you want short grounds that are clean and solidly connected, which it sounds like...

ARB Refrigerator causing RFI on handhelds

Nothing wrong with that Bury-Flex. The concern would be the quality of the connectors and you bought it made up so that's probably not a problem. http://www.davisrf.com/buryflex.php

True, you aren't going to melt it and it's unlikely that you'll get it warm enough to reach critical temperature (Dyneema has to be kept below 150°F to avoid damage). But can't is a strong word since there's obviously some non-zero amount of friction involve. The rule of thumb threshold to...

    Next generation snatch block

Yup, a show of perfect comprehension. It was a good video, thorough and will I think reconfirm each individual's bias. The part that I admit does mine is that his crap block continues to work just fine after years of abuse. There ultimately are trade-offs each person has to consider in...

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

A bigger view of the prototype under wraps and the current 200 series IFS. If I was guessing I still think the bright link is the sway bar end and you can see the lower ball joint to the left. The end of the coil-over I'd think would be boxed in and maybe not visible at this angle.

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

I saw that and I assumed it was the end link for the sway bar.

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

Wouldn't it be interesting if it was the first TNGA-F truck? Although I'd expect if they are trying to converge trucks that they'd use the 300 series Land Cruiser globally to introduce it as king of the hill in Toyota trucks. Seeing it in a Cruiser first I think would bolster the Tundra and...

    (partially) new Tundra coming?

Top Gear's Hilux was kind of a world beater, wasn't it? I'd take it over any 3rd gen Tundra, the dents'll buff out.

Tire losing air in an odd way?

The valve stem TPMS sensors have rubber seal, grommet and retaining nut seal probably has just loosened or hardened. There's a seal kit to "rebuild" them that tire shops should have. But it's possible for them to corrode or crack so the body can leak. The dunk or soapy water test will tell...

    2ND Gen CBI Antenna Mount

A 2nd gen what, Tacoma? I used CBI ditch light brackets for antenna mounts on my 2008 Tacoma but have since taken them off. Don't know if I have any good photos of how they mounted. Once you remove the cowl and two corner plastic windshield trim pieces so you can see the hood hinges the...

Maps: Old school paper or GPS?

Have you reported it? There's no reported interference, issues or degradations with SVN-56/PRN-16. https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?Do=constellationStatus https://www.gps.gov/support/user/#civilian But it is a block IIR in year 17 of its 10-year design life and probably about the 5th or 6th...

Charging SLA 12v /55Ah Battery from the Alternator

If it's really an AGM and definitely not gel then just parallel it like @Buddha. says. It'll charge like any other typical automotive battery (which is to say as good or bad as you're currently doing with your starting battery). The current the batteries each want will self regulate, no need...

Charging SLA 12v /55Ah Battery from the Alternator

It's an SLA as in gel? If you want to spend a lot of money this is a DC-DC gel cell capable charger: https://www.batterystuff.com/battery-chargers/12-volt/0-4amps/optimate-dc-to-dc-12v-smart-battery-charger-tm-500.html Another option is that since a gel battery needs a lower voltage than your...

    General gripe

I do dig Carhartt (although I think I prefer Wrangler Riggs pants now) but they're terrible for anything athletic so I don't view them as an alternative to TNF etc.
