NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Don- I wish, though there appears to be a significant contingent from the East Coast rover community that is figuring out the logistics to head that way. Not in the cards for us this year. Our big fall event will be VOR, just after the Western Rally and sadly work is too consuming at the moment...

    Project Victory_Overland 08 LR3 Build Thread!

My understanding is anyone wanting to run 17 goes down to V6/Diesel brakes as part of the deal. Further understanding is, unless you are driving it like a rally car, that has little impact. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Don- Will check on the output from the traxide; that's a good head's up. Since I tend to drive the truck intermittently (can commute via public transport, so of course we have 5 cars) I keep the truck plugged in quite a bit for the NOCO to charge both batteries individually too. r- Ray

    Project Victory_Overland 08 LR3 Build Thread!

I love it, keeping him honest! In terms of X5 17's, I believe (not a BMW'er) we're talking the 01-06 E53 years of the X5 (http://www.wheelsupport.com/bolt-pattern-list-5-x-120/) where you get the 17" in the 3.0 model. That gets you to these...

Help Building LR4 and locating HD Package

X5 17's only bc they are cheap and plentiful-if you have steel options I'd be interested in what that looks like too. The idea of having two sets of wheels, one with KMs, the other with KOs, is pretty compelling Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Help Building LR4 and locating HD Package

Random aside in the 17" option discussion: anyone stateside try the 17" BMW X5 wheels? Part of me is very intrigued about going to KM2s... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Abandoned/derelict sites

Wiki says she is the Aries: " USS Aries PHM-5 Hydrofoil Memorial, Inc. obtained Aries for rehabilitation as a memorial located on the Grand River in Brunswick, Missouri at 39°25′15″N 93°7′47″W / 39.42083°N 93.12972°W / 39.42083; -93.12972." Fascinating that someone saved that PHM. I had a tour...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

Odyssey yes (34 group). No to LLAMS; with the coils in place I have no requirement for that. If you look closely you'll note the EAS control is removed from the left side-it's a blank plate (i.e. A great guy in AUS that had access to a breaker who had a coiler found that little obscure piece...

NAS LR3 build with an overseas twist

I owe an update to this in the next few weeks, wrapping up a few things but a few pics: Close attention to the switch area near the terrain response will highlight what is new, and likely fairly unique to this truck. (I had to modify the base spec non-EAS plate to fit with the TR knob) Yellow...

Help Building LR4 and locating HD Package

My experience is that it does help, but doesn't help nearly as much as appropriate tires. What is also difficult to quantify are questions like: -does it help so much that the cost of finding one in terms of time is worth it compared to other attributes worth finding? (maint history, other...

Help Building LR4 and locating HD Package

I'll do my usual: why do you need a rear locker? (Bc with this platform the vast majority never need it, but somehow it's a discriminator as though it will overcome the lack of MTs and the vehicles inherent weight challenges). By all means, if you can find one it's worth buying but it would...

Thoughts on Non-Land Rover axles on a Classic?

By and large the LR HD stuff will get it done, the Toyota conversion was quite popular back in the days of Keith at Rovertracks-and is an extremely solid upgrade for a lot of reasons albeit not without some work.

Roofnest Sparrow X vs James Baroud Explorer

So we are looking hard at buying a hard shell RTT and had the opportunity recently to put hands on both a JB Space, and the Sparrow X. Ultimately we're probably going to with the JB. Ironically, much of it comes down to what the Sparrow owner (who is a great dude, working for a great...

LR4 Everywhere – a family adventure and build thread

Great pics and love the color of your truck-but I'm biased about green Rovers since that's all we own. I too looked at that Rangie and thought...hmmm, that could work. Ironic that the owner questions if they should have gone the LR4 route.

Coyote; aka my 96 D1 5 speed build thread

The time since the last update to this thread alone is illustrative that I have not been good to my girl-and for a time she took it out on me, but recently I decided 2018 Coyote would get some love-and some abuse out on the trails. So I set out to get her running good, to return all the...

Does the rep of "unreliable" still hold true?

Anecdotally you may find that there is a gulf between the Dii and D3/D4 platform in terms of reliability. The reputation earned by Land Rover for reliability was on full display with the Dii (and P38), particularly as that engine block really went past its years of good machining. The D3/D4...

    Full length rack noise

Ha! How long have we been talking about this elsewhere? I'm just saying... I always laugh when the UK D3/D4 guys say that switching to coils is for poor people-but they won't spend the $ to get the rack that basically is the SD low rack of this platform. Plenty of reasons to get FR or any...
