Given the relatively low payload of half ton trucks, would you really be able to take advantage of the crew cab longbed setup on a Tundra? I would guess you'd be money ahead to get a 3/4 or 1 ton in that configuration.

I put lots of miles on a 2003 Silverado and I did not experience a lack of lights or messages...
The 4x4 indicator lights were on the buttons which were right beside the gauges anyway, so an additional light would have been redundant. It also popped up messages for low charging voltages and oil...
I think you answered your own question about why the Tacoma is relevant when you said that if you could buy a truck as a personal off-road toy, it would be the Tacoma.
When I was younger and single, I happily drove a first gen Tacoma around and never had a need for the rear seat other than...
I prefer the "clam" as you call it to the liftgate, but I'm also tall so liftgates can be a literal headache and I can easily reach in past a tailgate to grab things [emoji23]

I've definitely seen this problem on other trucks, although usually on older ones when the seal dry-rots.
RTV & silicone will work but seem like a pain to redo every bulb change. Would you be able to use the OEM seal as a template and make one out of a better material instead?

That's a great looking first-gen! The color-matched rear bumper and FJ wheels are subtle changes but they made a big difference.
What size tires are you running on there?
GLWS!

One thing I really like about the hybrid bumpers is that while an enthusiast will notice them, your average passer-by will pay no attention to them. There are times when I appreciate blending in, particularly with a daily driver that I use to meet with clients.
They definitely offer less...
It's certainly frustrating, but calling them liars and making it out like they purposefully screwed you seems petty. "Trust but verify" seems to fit here, and I certainly would have sought one out in person before dropping $1,600...
Returning products is often a hassle, but it's just part of it...
If you're playing a game of inches with parking garages you were already screwed before you ordered the tent. All it takes a low hanging sprinkler or light fixture to make a bad day. I wouldn't feel comfortable with that small of a factor of safety...

So if I'm reading that correctly you've got 2800# of static load on each front coil, right? 700# per inch, compressed 4" total at ride height.
I don't have anything to compare it to, but that number seems high compared to the curb weight of the truck.
Maybe I'm not interpreting that concept...

I hunted with a guy that owned a 250 King Ranch with those rear bucket seats. I loathed them for actually using it as a truck. It killed the under-seat storage space so everything ended up under people's feet.
They were comfortable to ride in, though, if all you do is haul gearless people...
I've been toying with a purchase of this style cover for a while. Bakflip seems to be the most popular although you'll find mixed opinions on quality. The ones I've handled in person have seemed like good quality and the owners had no complaints.
Just FYI a large portion of cap & cover...
