Haha, joking aside - I love how utilitarian a regular cab long bed truck looks. Something about configuration suggests you showed up to get ******** done.
Obviously you were happy with the truck over the course of your travels. Is there anything you wish you could have or would have changed...
I've always liked the square wheel wells and, as noted, it's been an iconic Chevy aesthetic for a long time.
If GM learns anything from the 2019 Silverado platform, I hope they learn to stick with squares.

I LOL'd at those 1st gen Tundra interior comments. The lame interior is my #1 complaint about my 1st gen. Closely followed by the fact that they used chrome mirrors and grille accents on the SR5s of course!

Looks good! Did the PO already replace the timing belt prior to trade-in? Good timing if so.
You gonna swap that sweet spoiler onto your Snugtop so you don't lose the +5 hp? :D

I would nix the bumpers and winch to get yourself back under budget. If you have survived this many years without one, there is no rush. I doubt you will want to wheel too hard with expensive bicycles hanging off the back anyway.
That truck has 110k, have you already caught up on preventative...
This won't help you, but I had to Google why any 06 Tundra would have different flares. Apparently the single piece flares you describe were port-installed rather than factory installed. Fascinating.
Is it possible to swap to the 2 piece flare instead of cutting yours? I think you'll get a...
If you have the means to fly South and road trip back you'd probably find much cleaner trucks in say, the Atlanta area compared to your local offerings. Maybe not worth it if your total budget is a $2k truck, though.
You'll get a lot of **************, I mean opinions, on this question because it's really just a preference of what works best for your needs.
I like the Tacoma platform a lot and had one for my first truck. At the time I thought full sizes were way too big. Now that I have a wife, a kid, and a dog to...
I see you have the mirror caps up there as well - do they just pop off?
I picked my first gen up around the same time with similar mileage. I like it overall but the chrome SR5 grilles and mirror caps are a huge detractor.

[emoji3516] Nice! I've always been annoyed by the tail pipe exit on my Tundra as well. Word of caution, though, I have had a poorly routed exhaust melt the tread off of a spare tire before on a Tacoma. If you end up making a cut further back, you might consider adding a turndown or heat shield...
Cool truck! Really makes me miss my '03 Silverado. I really liked that truck until it came time to stick an infant seat in the back, haha.

Ouch! Sounds like money well spent, but spending that much still hurts. I'm glad there was a tangible improvement to at least make it feel worthwhile.

I've had the ST Maxx on a previous Silverado and am currently running the KO2 on my Tundra. I'd purchase either tire again with confidence.
The KO2s are on EVERYONE'S rig and I kind of liked being different with the ST Maxx, but the KO2s commonality also makes it easier to find when needed...
Any details or recommendations on that antenna swap? The long, flexy antenna on my first gen just seems goofy and outdated these days.

Did you eliminate wheel bearings already? Bad wheel bearings are also capable of causing noise, vibration, and tire wear similar to what you describe.

You are a scholar and a gentleman, kind sir!
Seriously, though, thanks for the info guys. The space gained is definitely minimal.
