Coyote; aka my 96 D1 5 speed build thread

Couple of final shots to round out the weekend provided later. Kinetic rope rigged up & in action. The beauty of pulling out a Jeep really is unfair since the owner was a novice who was there to learn how the vehicle performed and did nothing wrong; can't change factory ground clearance and...

    New Disco owner!

Re the CDL, here's some stuff from Dweb that will show some pics and give context. Worth noting that as rough and tumble as Discoweb can be for the uninitiated, every question for an NAS D1 and Dii has been asked and answered there multiple times over (in fact the biggest problem with searching...

    Discovery I Feedback

I can think of a lot of reasons why D1 over Dii-but you have both, and a RRC so you may well have a different view!

    Discovery I Feedback

Did you look for rust in the rear door jams (up near the striker) as well as in the back where you access the fuel pump? Regardless, if it ran and drive well and the basic checks worked out good D1's are hard to find so if this one speaks to you then take the plunge! Sent from my iPhone using...

What do you use for a truck gun?

Eye relief and such def makes it not nearly as comfortable as a nice SOPMOD but it will still reach out ok. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What do you use for a truck gun?

I just run a pistol or two... :) The one on the left was really built as a truck gun by the way I define it; i.e. something short & handy, fairly easy to make discreet, and inexpensive enough that if something bad happened (either stolen or if it were seized/detained) it wouldn't be thousands...

Shovel mounts and antenna holders Since my wiring clearly is a work in progress, I decided to focus on simpler less fire prone activities too. Shovels are a necessary tool for the trail, particularly on the muddy east coast. During the past two years the truck had been stripped of a lot of...

Strobes! & a wiring self-criticism session and subsequent improvement Catching up on the thread with little odds & ends that have been done over the past few days as work prepares to begin in earnest. I brought some of the cheap LED strobe/indicators back from the UAE that I'd put in the...

Coyote; aka my 96 D1 5 speed build thread

The time has been quite therapeutic and a great way to transition back; but for my knuckles...that has been less than pleasant working with my hands and 're-earning' those calluses and such (along with working for a couple of days on a RRC with hand tools before realizing 'hey, there is air in...

discovery 1 for year traveling Africa

Thanks for the words, Coyote is def my first love in terms of rovers and its nice to have my hands on her full time again-seeing your pics renews my drive to actually take her to Alaska since I think getting her across the pond may be a bridge too far! Imitation being the sincerest form of...

    Auxiliary Lighting

So for the original poster I'll go ahead and add some commentary; LED lighting can be fantastic. How do I 'feel' about LED light bars? I had one on my D3-took it off, but she still has LED lights in the bumper which when coupled with the HID headlights are more than adequate for her intended...

Rear door redux ver 5.8 (or something) While I love the diamond plate rear door setup that's been on my Disco(s) since...2007, I've been changing many elements of it throughout the years as needs change, products come on the market, etc. For awhile now I'd had a thought in the back of my mind...

Discovery 4 / LR4 Auxiliary Long Range Tank

Did some digging on that gauge/switch setup while I was in Abu Dhabi-believe I even called AUS to ask if they'd sell the setup separate from the tank kit and they wouldn't. Unfortunate as it is a good looking piece of gear. When I put my FR tank install on hold it went to the back burner...

35 in DE, good god-that's like a thousand in a place that often doesn't have A/C! Things are def coming together, as you likely know the train wreck of overseas moving is finally coming to an end. Well, kinda, since my LR3 and the rest of the HHG are in the same container and still a ways out...

Garage move-in, workshop establishment Firmly back in the US and starting to get established, one of the benefits of where we will be living for the next year or so is a two car garage. That said putting it together and starting to work in it has revealed that if, when, I build something there...
