    Intech RV

So it's the trailer manufacturer mounting those receivers like that and keeping their 200 lbs rating?

    Intech RV

I am the one who posted a calculation @dreadlocks refers but I am most certainly not the one to attempt explanation or analysis. Suffice to say Google for yourself shear and bending moments and consider, too, that any rating must be for the weakest spot...

    Entrenching Tool

I've been using one of the old Con-Ferr brackets for ages. Carrying an actual shovel is almost as invaluable. Although I don't carry a full length, so I'm but an overlanding poseur.

New product debut by Four Wheel Campers

This is pretty much exactly the camper I would go for if (or when) replacement of my WilderNest becomes necessary.

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

Your post is quite honestly what must every enthusiast has said the past decade or two.

    Hitch mounted bike racks

Yup @dreadlocks, a static freebody diagram is all this sparky knows how to do. I do think the more worser case is the shock when driving off road, though. Even expansion joints I don't think bounce them around as much as a few good rock ledges.

    Hitch mounted bike racks

That's a good point. My 1UP is 46 lbs (Super Duty Single + one Add-On) with two bikes is about 135 lbs. I have it in a 7" extender so that handlebars on the inside tray clear my camper shell, which is probably another 10 lbs hunk of steel. But this isn't quite just tongue weight since it's...

Concrete slab thickness for vehicle lift? (And some great concrete suggestions!)

Just call the manufacturer and ask what they recommend. https://www.bendpak.com/Concrete-Slab-Requirements-BendPak-2019.pdf

What have you broken/replaced on your overweight Tacoma?

That's a problem it seems for a lot of people. The Tacoma is plenty big to carry essentials but you have to think like a backpacker.

    New truck battery 12.2 volts

It looks like you can download the information, though, which is just as good IMO.

Newest Mid-Sized Trucks Sales Figures May Surprise You?

The 2.0L EcoBlue diesel is an inline 4 and meets EURO VI standards (e.g. might also therefore meet 2017 U.S. EPA Tier III harmonized I think). http://www.trucktrend.com/features/1805-ford-ecoblue-2-0l-technical-wonder/...

Super-simple 12v power source for fridge?

Gassing rates are given dependent on voltage. VRLA is generally said to produce 0.0185 cc/hr per A-hr per cell at 2.3 V. If you push them too hard, though, it goes up 20 fold at 2.5 V/cell. So charging has to be controlled in enclosed spaces. For the UPS batteries I've seen a typical 100...

Super-simple 12v power source for fridge?

The outgassing and spilling are worth mentioning inside a well sealed vehicle cabin. The outgassing potential is during charging, so if you're only charging at home or in camp with the battery outside that's lowered risk. Putting the battery inside a box and kept upright helps reduce chance of...

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

That's why I pointed out the +400 lbs discrepancy with the quoted Tacoma payload in the post.

    2020 Defender Spy Shots....

1,560 lbs - Ranger SuperCrew 4x4 BTW, you overstated the Tacoma. It's 1,540 lbs for a 4x2 SR spec Access Cab. The highest 4x4 is an SR spec Access Cab at 1,380 lbs. Typical TRD spec Double Cab 4x4 is 1,175 lbs. The highest payload in the Ranger is 1,860 lbs for a 4x2 SuperCab.

Super-simple 12v power source for fridge?

That'll work A-OK. That's the beauty of using the DC-DC charger. Just need the feed to be large enough to be safe and the rule of thumb charts are fine for that.

Super-simple 12v power source for fridge?

To give values, 8 AWG at 30 A will drop just under 0.2V over 10 feet. Not quite "Why do batteries in my trailer only last a year?" amount of drop but enough to know it could matter. Keeping in mind that a 10' run of a red-and-black pair is a loop that's twice that, which would more likely rise...

Wiring and it's effects on signal quality

Bet if you look around you can find a couple. Mouser currently has stock of both 2 hole flange type (Amphenol 17232) and 4 hole type (Amphenol 172119), for example. https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Amphenol-RF/172323?qs=%2Fha2pyFaduhiXucRhlmeJAEGBk4saTvQFS4ILTVNcOY%3D...

    New truck battery 12.2 volts

SAE J537 defines Cold Cranking Amps and Reserve Capacity in the sequence of battery tests. Cold Cranking Amps Current delivered for 30 seconds at -18°C (0°F) and -29°C (-20°F) and to pass the battery must remain at 1.2V/cell (7.2 V for a 12V nominal) or greater. Marine Cranking Amps (or...
