What length of control arms are looking to get? There is a guy on the DodgeOffroad forum that put 40 inch toyos on a 3 inch lift with 0.75 longer control arms.
The fuel lines should already be rated for biodiesel, so I wouldn't bother replacing them unless they are leaking fuel. Also, make sure you only purchase commercial grade Biodiesel in order to save your engines internals from damage.
It's a 6.7 with an auto, dang near 100k in miles, has the emissions junk, doesn't get that great of mileage. I wouldn't buy it. It sure looks purdy though. If you are going to spend that kind of cash step up to a 13, better mileage, and nicer interior. Personally I would go for 07 or 06 5.9.
I thought about that too, but I don't want to pull a trailer in Mexico or Central America. The bike would be a little honda trail 90 on the back, so not super heavy. The swing away one I posted earlier from a sprinter shop in Oregon I believe still makes the motorcycle carrier. They utilize two...
Thanks for the responds. 5 min. is not that bad. I am thinking more about doing something custom were the bike platform is mounted to two or three receivers off the frame of the truck, this would eliminate a lot of sway and wobble that a lot of the single receiver mounts suffer from.
I wouldn't expect any response, it appears they only posted here in order to sell their self help online book. Being from Utah, maybe even Amway too:Wow1:
Why a 2008 or newer Dodge? Nice interiors but you will likely get better mileage in the 03 to 07 5.9, less emissions, more reliability. My 97 dodge diesel with manual gets over 20 if I cruise slow on the freeway under 65 with a shell on the back. If you are not looking for serious off road but...
I just picked up 1997 from the original owner in mint condition 5 speed with BD exhaust brake for 10k, not cheap but not overly priced in my opinion. I'm happy, it's my second 12 valve.
I would think a hard side would be better for more "stealth camping" since as long as the lights are out you dont really know if someone is in there or not. A pop up with the top up reminds me of more a tent like set up that would draw more attention.
I also would not get 37 to 40 inch tire for reasons outlined above, especially with the camper. Only as big as necessary and small as possible, especially for an overland vehicle. A rock crawler is a different story. I personally prefer 285/75/18 as they are 35 inches tall, narrow, and come...
What does this truck have for steering? I am curious if cross over steering or steering with heim joints would last longer or work better for the type of high speed expedition like driving you do. I know Thuren makes a set up.
Not sure, sounds like he bought a truck and camper after having been tired of breaking down all the time and costly repairs. Maybe it was over the time of ownership and not one year.
