It was a bluebird day, very little wind, and a comfortable temperature if you were active. The park was extremely busy, so we decided to head out of the main canyon and see where the wind would blow us. We pulled out on a random turnout, and started hiking. We figured if we followed the deer...
Looking to utilize the President's Day weekend, we made a quick jaunt to visit my nearly 94 year old grandmother and of course go see Zion NP.
Zion has a magical element to it. Here are a few photos to inspire you to get your family out on a simple weekend adventure. No 4wd, ARB lockers, or...

I agree:iagree:
Thanks for the report , great pics and story .
P.S. was wondering the first pic in your report was of a couple skeletons , do you think they were cattle rustlers ? I found 3 in one spot on our trip to the North Rim that I thought might have been rustlers .
Here's a...
Thanks Mark. I truly hope what I write is encouraging people to go out and 'get at it' more. I am confident that people would be less egotistical, selfish and outright rude if they spent more time away from it all, experiencing the natural world. For me, it is like going home to Mom and Dad's...
Added a new little addition to help with fuel and water transport on more remote trips (I hated having water and gas on the roof):

Thank You.
I miss certain aspects of the cruiser, but I find that I am more than content with having the Tundra. Once I get more familiar with it (and add the little things I need/want) I am sure it will have the same love the cruiser did. The power sure makes it nice...lots of 'oomph'.
Thank you. I appreciate that. I haven't sone much in the way of trip reports for awhile, as it seemed that people weren't reading much of them anymore.
I hear you, and I agree... However, I still have a modified 4Runner that can take me into those more remote places...
Thanks for the responses, folks. I appreciate it. I happened to have a day to put it together, albeit short.
I am really liking the Tundra, even though it isn't white. The tradeoff was I got the limited package with all the goodies I didn't expect to have. After a trip with some friends and...
I had better finish this up:
“There are people who have no engaged conversation with the land whatsoever, no sense of its beauty or extremes or limits and therefore no reason to question their actions in a place that is merely backdrop.”

I spent most of the day out...
I was treated to a magnificent canopy of stars...I began to set up to take some photos, but I found myself listening to the sound of drumming in the distance. It was coming from everywhere and no where all at once. I couldn't place it. Wherever it was coming from, it was fitting...the rhythmic...
On the Colorado Plateau, with its considerable share of wildlands, a natural world more or less intact, the most exotic terrain may be the plateau's own history. During my recent journeys this history felt foreign and unnervingly off-the-Map, even as I lived in its heart. Gaze out from the mesa...
I sat alone amongst the ruins for quite some time...somehow, Nikon, Goretex, Outdoor Research, and Nature's Valley granola bars seem so out of place. I was a visitor here. Much like when you go into a neighbor's house when they are not home, the silence told me to walk softly, reverence was...
