Closed Thread - Proper Gun Transport - Closed on July 4th

I disagree. It is the difference between discussing gun laws and discussing politics. Keeping political discussions civil on an internet forum is like watching 5-year-olds play on the swing set. . . It inevitably ends in screaming and gnashing of teeth.

That makes me sad. Love the G350 in concept. In the end, it is the reliability failures of Mercedes over the past 10 years that cost it the Ultimate Overlander title. The G-Wagen is a far better vehicle (design and engineering) then the VDJ76, but reliability is king when traveling remotely.

A challenge to the "lead sled" ADV bikes offered today

I guess if riding dirt bikes and motorcycles for 22 years makes me a moto newbie, you have a point. . . ;)

yeah, the 3.6 is a great upgrade. 285+ HP is enough for comfortable cruising.

The 461 benefits from increased payload and a more simple electronics package. The interior is also more durable and spartan. The big advantage of the 461 is the payload and systems simplicity. If I was going to take a G-Wagen around the world, it would be the G350 463 with the turbo diesel...

Overland Journal "The Ultimate Overlander" Article

Thanks for the feedback. It was the most difficult article I have ever assembled, and took about five years of research (not full time of course) and testing. Regarding the capacity question, the scale was not based on a constant, but on a curve, much like the other factors. The Defender had...

    Towing with a G320?

Unfortunately, the G320 will cost almost as much (if not more) than a 2002 G500. The G320 is a far more simple vehicle with less electronics, and as a result, often times more desirable. A rough G320 can be found around 20k, while clean ones can still fetch over 30k.

Any update on the castor correction brackets? Do you still have the spacers?

    Towing with a G320?

A UZJ100 will have much better towing performance than a G320. My 320 has an AMG head and Brabus exhaust, and I would dread pulling a big trailer with it for any distance...

Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

No different from any other tool. Do you know how many people die from hammers every year? In 2011, 496 people were killed by hammers and clubs (coincidentally, 173 more murders from hammers than rifles. . .) Also in 2013, 32,000 people died from car accidents. It is easy to blame the gun...

    Towing with a G320?

The G320 will tow like any 80-series, Discovery, etc. from the 90s. Low on power but plenty of stability. I have a 320 and I tow with it. Just don't be in a hurry. . .

Why the Toyota Land Cruiser is so expensive

When I was in Nagoya, at the TAB plant, the engineers said the 200 series Land Cruiser is the strongest Cruiser they have ever built. Tougher then the 70 series- pretty cool.

    Question about the Entdecker

Yes. The vehicle was specified by Front Runner and built (primarily) by Unicat to Stanley and Alex's requirements. They are built on the 461 platform. There are a few options for the Entecker in the USA, including having the vehicle prepared by Front Runner in Southern California...
