They are too big, but surprisingly, they only rub minimally. The performance of the tire is excellent and I am shocked how quiet they are. However, this vehicle really needs 255/85s and some Hutchinsons :)

I would limit it to 150 lbs. of distributed load. I only have a Front Runner roof rack and few lights up there. The rack is used for sleeping and photography, and as reserve capacity should another vehicle on the trip become disabled.

The BFG will be slightly more resistant to sidewall damage and the AT/3 will be a better performer in wet conditions. Realistically, it is splitting hairs- both are great tires. Buy the one that looks better to you and is available in the size/price you want to pay.
