    2003 Discovery Custom Pickup Conversion

Interesting. Seems pretty well done, even if the photo almost looks like a diecast model by the side of the road.

where to buy hella 500 yellow fogs?

The yellow-glass Hella 500 round lights are long out of production, AFAIK. i gave up a set when i sold my old XJ Cherokee earlier this year, and cringed doing it. Most folks now will either use yellow film applied to the lens (see the Susquehanna Motorsports site for details) or the Duplicolor...

Pics of rig packed up ready to go?

My 2001 Tacoma DC in September 2014 at Capitol Reef. I love the Mountain Top cover (a checkerplate aluminum tonneau by a Danish company). The combination of the lockable cover and the Pop-n-Lock tailgate latch makes storage inconspicuous and secure. Here's the truck with Lucas the Border...

4x4 3L Toyota Hiace Cruising Cabin

I've been in plenty of Hi-Aces in Asia, but I don't think I've been in a 4WD version. It would make a comfortable tourer. Good luck with it, zimm.

4x4 3L Toyota Hiace Cruising Cabin

It's listed as a 1996. Dunno... Agreed, likely more space and a realistic alternative to a Westy.

Headlight recomendations - 97 E350 Ambulance - what works well?

I've driven behind Hella H4 in 200 mm rectangular and 7 inch round for hundreds of thousands of miles. I've used Bosch, Cibié, and <gasp> original sealed beams, too. Totally sold on Hella -- they get my highest recommendation. An H4 +30 bulb is a reasonable upgrade. Direct wiring with...

Couple Pics from a trip through Sedona & Valley of the Gods, UT

Nice images. Thx for showing 'em. Could you describe what you did in post? (I try to avoid digital darkroom work where I can, and love to get the image using camera-alone settings. My old color slide film days, I guess..)

    FS: Hella 4000 Rallye Lights

Thanks -- I gotta make a few more measurements, I guess. Didn't look like they'd clear the grille on my 2001.

    magic gas?

Different people have different risk tolerance. Seems that the folks who would think far enough ahead to put fuel aside are probably those who would never take a risk of running low anyway. I have friends who fill up when the tank reaches half-full. That seems like a lot more time spent...

    magic gas?

They note a flash point of 105 °F. It's almost certainly a mix of higher alkanes -- say C13 or greater. HERE is some info on this general class of hydrocarbons. Note that they use the higher density of this fuel to push residual gasoline through the line into the cylinders to start the engine...

Portrait Shots (show us your best)

Mom and Dad, Hampton Beach, New Hampshire, July 1978. I do like to look over my film days. Back when every Ektachrome exposure counted -- I was 20-21 years old and a starving student.

    FS: Hella 4000 Rallye Lights

BulletHead, the mounting-post-to-back-of-housing distance on the Hella Rallye 4000 lights is about 90 mm. My 2001 Tacoma with ARB bullbar doesn't have that much clearance from grille to mounting holes -- I'm not a candidate for these, alas. Rgds, Don

VERY interesting! First I've seen that -- must be out of touch.

    Goose Gear

Dave, what I'd like to have is a replacement for the back seat in my 2001 Tacoma DC that would function as (1) storage organization, (2) a platform for securing larger items like a fridge, cooler, dog/dog crate, etc, and (3) in a crunch could serve as a bench for three-up or four-up seating...

    Goose Gear

Dave, the Goose Gear stuff looks really nice -- at last, somebody's taking care with what has historically been one the weak points of any build out. 70s-era cabinet fronting on rough 2x4 framing just don't cut it in the modern world. Aluminum extrusions, marine-grade plywood, professional...

    Think Tank bag

I've used a Think Tank Photo SubUrban Disguise bag for a couple of years now. Very nice. Durable, compact, and it doesn't look like a camera bag, so hopefully less attractive as a target.
