Dralon is an acrylic fiber, originally developed by Bayer GmbH, but now spun off to Dralon GmbH like so many other textile fibers have been by the big multinational chemical companies.
Acrylic is a good choice for exterior applications -- it's a highly UV stable polymer with low water absorption.
Man, Lexus seems to be stretching to justify this design:
“Everyone at Lexus believed that we should try putting forward our L-finesse design philosophy in a much bolder manner,” explains Takeshi Tanabe, project manager of the Lexus Design Division. “L-finesse consists of the...
That's probably an important consideration in the GX facelift. With so little but the front changed, it was probably to move to the Lexus corporate spindle grille consistently across the product line. As the GX becomes a likely casualty in future product plans it gets hard to justify styling...
True enough that new designs cause a mix of complaint and praise. My friend moved from a Mercedes Benz GL450 to the Lexus, so it isn't a matter of defending a prior choice; she just likes the style of the 2013 better.

This one should be as much fun as the last one.
In case you haven't seen them, steinbruchsoldat, you might want to read through these two threads on the excellent Garage Journal Forum. You may find a few ideas, and you're sure to be entertained...
