Oh my, thanks for the heads up on that one. WTH? That's really ugly. LR guy should take note that even the Toyota V8s are relatively under powered, compared to other brands of V8s, so power hungry drivers may be disappointed. Like other Toyota truck engines, they're intentionally under built...
If you're planning to circumvent California emission laws by getting the title in Washington, better make sure this will end well for you. I really don't know, but would be concerned about it.
Straight trade? I'd probably do it. Don't like lifted trucks and it'd be a good opportunity to ditch it. Better choice, in my opinion, would be a 4Runner. Land Cruisers suck gas like nobody's business, which doesn't make much sense for a daily driver.
I just read an article that says this edition also includes heavy duty coil springs up front for a more level stance, a roof rack and better tires, plus the things you've mentioned.
No, I wouldn't pay 3K extra for it. You could buy a used 4runner for that and call it good. :)
Regarding...
No rust, good interior and drivetrain, I'd expect to pay around 5K or so. Who knows, maybe more. But at some point it's time to refuse to buy into the inflated prices for old Toyota 4x4s and get something else. :)
6'5" here. 1st and 2nd generation 4Runners are OK headroom wise for me, but the third gen with sunroof is not. Haven't sat in a newer one. What I don't like on newer vehicles is the big angle slant on the windshields.
The old FJ40s had ample head room but terrible legroom. Good to hear the...
What is a plate bumper, and approximately how much do they weight empty? Nice, although your write up would probably get more admiration if it was posted in the Land Cruiser section of the forum instead of this one.
If you really must have a manual, keep looking. Sometimes you can find one of these with a new or newer engine, plus 5 speed, for less than that dealer is asking. In general, I would stay away from dealers.
It's a nice one though. My preference would also be for a manual, but have one of...
Why would anyone lie about it? Either they've experienced the issue or not-the poll question says it all. Knowing about this potential problem would certainly make me look for it if buying a used FJ, and I bet you would too. But, it wouldn't be a concern of mine if buying new. Moot point...
They look too busy with all the graphics and add ons . Akin to a guy with tattoos and body piercings, with a shirt showing off his biceps.
Guess they're targeting a young audience-surprise!
480 positive responses, largest percentage in the categories listed had stock trucks. http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/problems-dealer-service/33440-engine-bay-body-rips-2.html
More horsepower, electronic gadgets and uglier styling, no doubt, but it does make the Forbes list of new cars to avoid, along with the Jeep you're considering.
For owner reviews of the FJ, you could always look at the Edmunds website for all years of production...
