    Choosing between two 80's...?

One of these, a white '96, sold here last weekend for 3500 "firm". Good condition, just a few minor things wrong with it. Woman was going by blue book, maybe. It got snapped up immediately. Some people just can't pass up a bargain, even if it's a gas guzzler with features they probably will...

    1992 Pickup worth 6900?

I do. Trouble is, no one makes a mini in any configuration anymore. A newer small truck, with a small, fuel efficient 4 cylinder and modern safety features, would be nice. Guess the older 4cyl Tacos are the closest thing out there. But yeah, got frame rot? Be careful. Trucks get bigger...

    1992 Pickup worth 6900?

Baby gates? Modern technology hasn't changed the fact that every additional 10 mph beyond 50 mph reduces fuel economy by about 14%, or the safety consideration that kinetic energy is proportional to velocity squared. But, I can understand the desire to get the flock off a freeway ASAP. :088:

    1992 Pickup worth 6900?

Agreed. At least 5K. This truck will do everything you want in relative comfort. Some people ***** about the bench seat, but they must have bad backs or other physical ailments. With or without camper, it'll be slow to accelerate and strained to travel at 70+ MPH. Depends on where you live...

    1992 Pickup worth 6900?

That truck is a real beauty. Since no photos were taken underneath, you should be sure to check it out for (excessive) rust and wear. Miles can be verified through a carfax check. You probably know this, but with a big camper on back it will be a slug on the road. Also, you may need to beef...

All-Pro Offroad's Billy the 4Runner! Help us build it!

Would be OK for an off road beater, but not for this truck. They already decided on a 3.4 anyway.

    4th gen 4runner vs 2nd gen Tacoma

I'm with the pickup plus car crowd. If you can swing having a third rig, that's where the SUV comes in.

Land Cruiser 60 Series vs Newer Tacoma

I said you wouldn't necessarily be tinkering, not that they can't break down. My 20+ yrs experience with 80's-90's Toyotas, compared to Jeep and Scout is that they require much less work (tinkering) and they, well, haven't broken down. Brakes, starter, alternator, cooling system, steering...

    Thoughts on Off Road Bumpers?

If you don't foresee the need for a winch and your stock front bumper is in fine shape, in most cases it's just a luxury. My 2nd generation pickup's front bumper was rusted out and dented, so I was considering aftermarket. But, the truck is somewhat of a low cost beater ( although a very...

Land Cruiser 60 Series vs Newer Tacoma

Sounds like you want a 3B or 2H 60 series with a 5 speed. Take your time to find one that's not too rusty. BTW, they're even slower than the US 2F/3FE engines. Disagree with the claim that you'll always be tinkering with a 60. Just drive it, and don't mess with it too much.

Land Cruiser 60 Series vs Newer Tacoma

Stock 60 series in pretty decent shape should be available for 4-6K. They're very basic, straight forward to work on, so what you see is what you get. If it runs well, drives and stops straight then you're golden. Rust is a problem, of course, so look carefully for it. No mods necessary for...

    Tacoma Air Bag Rant! :(

Hire the neighbor's retarded kid to remove the dash board, then take it to the dealer for said repairs. A foolproof plan. :wings:

    ARB Bumper. '97 LC

No problem. Plenty of guys are running ARB bumpers with permanent stock suspension.
