Here's a link to a pdf brochure for the Australian market with specifications:

There are good deals on Weatherpack style connectors and crimping tools to be found on Amazon.com as well. The trick to installing them is the crimping tool -- with a good tool it's unbelievably easy to do a professional job. Without that tool... well... not so much...
Your local mechanic...
This oughta be easy. The clearcoat on the car will almost certainly be hardened. The spray paint not. Start with the gentler solvents and see if one will dissolved the paint -- I'd start with diesel fuel and maybe move to mineral spirits then gasoline or turpentine.
A little rubbing compound...
I spent last week in central Finland, where they're having the warmest start to winter in over 50 years. In Finland winter tires are mandatory December through February. Studs are not mandatory, but I'd guess 80% of the people go with studs. The potential for black ice and the common state of...
Toyota Australia have some teriffic LC photography in their ebrochure, even though the GX isn't shown yet. (It is on the main Toyota .au website)
Here's the iPad version of the ebrochure: http://landcruiser-200.realviewtechnologies.com/ipad/?back=white#folio=5
A seriously-techie colleague recommends Rev Lite from DevToaster as an IOS OBDII app as the one he uses. I have it downloaded and like the format, but I haven't bought a Bluetooth scanner to feed it data yet. They're kinda pricey. I'll edit this post later when I have my notes on his scanner...
I'd love those mileage values in my 4001 DC 4WD too! I'm around 17 city, 20-ish highway. I think I'm over 22 with the most feather-footed, well-adjusted tire pressure driving I can do, but not over 23.
My 2001 BMW X5, a honkin' heavy vehicle with 4WD and 3.0 L engine would easily get 22 on...
I've owned an 88 XJ for about 20 years, and as it moves into retirement I added a 2001 Tacoma 4wd DC to the fleet a couple of years ago as its replacement. I thought about an 80 series, and still check the classifieds.
Things that affected my decision include:
1. Exterior size. I like the...
That's indeed a beautiful vehicle. I'm not gonna buy it, but I'll bet I think about that one for years, and wouldn't be surprised if it turns into a "one that got away" memory...
You've probably considered and rejected having them reupholstered, yes? I've had the leather on several vehicles replaced over the years, including the much-loved seats on my 1988 XJ Limited. I had a bulletproof vinyl replace the worn original on my Dad's old 1981 Toyota PU bench, and it...
I think you could say the same thing about a Land Cruiser -- certainly the Lexus versions. Your insults are directed toward a group of people, not a vehicle.
Photo finish, Mike, but you pulled ahead at the wire...
I took photos of the car at IAA 2007, but the camera was *not* happy with the low light. The photos are awful. Here's a hint of that rear tire carrier you mentioned.
There's the Porsche Cayenne Transsyberia model. Definitely expedition capable. Porsche had one (of the follow-on builds to the original 26 rally vehicles IIRC) on their stand at the 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. Cool model. I think there's probably YouTube video of the rally. I believe they...
One of the real values of wraps -- at least in one part of the world -- has nothing to do with expedition travel, but may be interesting nonetheless.
In Germany it is quite common to apply folien (films) to police cars and taxis during their in-service life in one color or livery, and then...
I'm six foot six, 250+ lb. My Alan isn't one of the '80s cyclocross frames, or even the late '70s beefed-up road frames. It's one of the originals from circa 1972-73. And it still has the spaghetti-thin original fork. 35+ years on, the combination of gold-anodized aluminum tubes, polished...
Scrap it. As much as I love old bikes (with my 1917 Swiss Army Bike the oldest), aging aluminum just isn't worth it. My 1973 full-Campy Alan aluminum was retired to trainer duty about twenty years ago after tens of thousands of miles and millions of stress cycles. My Cannondale went to the...
