Thanks for posting the trip report and excellent pictures. This has been on our "to do" list and you just moved it to the top. Hope to be out there Jan 18th/19th.
Lack of shipping is an issue. I'm looking for an RV2 but i'm in San Diego and you're in Denver. The ad clearly says no shipping and I imagine it would be an expensive pain to ship the tent, so I never contacted you when I first saw the ad. Its just price/condition/location.
Not sure if it was a recall for the SMOD for that year - my 07 has an extended warranty on the transmission up to 100k miles from Nissan but they won't replace anything unless there are signs of problems.
We drove our 07 Xterra to the Expo and both drove the overland training course in it. We purchased the Nissan used after looking at the prices for similar year Toyotas / Jeeps and felt that not "running with the herd" saved us a lot of money and still got us a very capable 4x4.
Ovis,
I have a stock 07 with the exception of All Terrains to replace the stck rugged trail (still stock size tho) and am getting only about 17 mpg on average. I have no ref for a loaded number but do know that towing my 2900lb travel trailer, I get about 10 mpg.

I use a Google Nexus 7 - has a GPS chip and is cheaper than the Ipad mini. Download the maps for the area i'm headed to from Backcountry Navigator before heading out.
Would doing the radiator bypass mod on a brand new X void the warranty on anything? I dont know if anything has changed recently, but my 07 has the warranty extended on the radiator, and on any damage it does to the transmission, up to 8 years, 80,000 miles with no co-pay and up to 10 years...

Chris,
Hoping I have the correct Power wagon from Borrego Fest. If so, thanks again for helping fix our flat. Most of our pictures were taken looking forward but I have one of you on the trail which should be in this message if i did things correctly.
Simon
