Here are links to scanned copies of Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series and 80-series brochures I picked up in Colombia in October 1995. (About 1.2 MB, for four documents all scanned together, in Spanish, of course).
The SWB 70-series has never been a common vehicle (with a tip of the envious hat to...
Here are links to scanned copies of Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series brochures I picked up in Australia in November 1998. (About 2.5 MB, for three documents all scanned together). This is a companion post to the one in the Tacoma forum with the Hilux brochure posted earlier.
With good reason...
Ran across these, which I took at a lunch stop in the mountains of Northeastern Italy in June 2006. Thought the folks at ExPo might like to see them...
I'm sure there are folks who know a LOT more about this gear than I. As usual, the Italians do things with style.
Hmmm... works for me, and for a friend I had test it before posting. Let me fool around with this a bit. It is kinda big, and does load kinda slow.

I've been going through some of my old Australian 4x4 literature, and thought the folks here at ExPo might enjoy some of the stuff. Here's a Hilux brochure from November 2008. Ya gotta love those steelie split rims on the 4x4 DC. I'll post the 70-series brochures on the LC forum.
Here's a...
I gotta report this thing's a loser. I tried one, but it's going back.
It doesn't fit flush in the power port of my 2001 Tacoma, although it's advertised as such. Stands proud about 1/4 or 3/8 inch (6 - 9 mm). One of the things I liked was the idea that I could protect it behind the cover...
My original scan of the ad page that started this thread didn't capture the color all that well. The online Orvis catalog images will give you a much better idea of the color of the vehicle.

I've used the Yakima Basket Case on my Thule rack for many years. It's helped extend the capacity of my XJ, a not-too-big vehicle. It's a simple item, and has survived a lot of hard use on my 1988 Cherokee.
I thought about using three rails and two basket cases, and I think the post above...
I'm with ya on that one -- I'd have loved a mod, too. I'm also at about the four foot range normally. I've tried the longer wire mod, but that had zero effect. I've considered upgrading to one of the newer VIP systems, but that seems like a lot of trouble for a system that mostly works fine...
I've tested this idea on my 2001 Tacoma, and it works beyond expectation. I'd say at least 4x more range on the VIP RS3000 keyless remote, and sometimes 10x the range!
Take a look at how Top Gear presented the idea, and if you're not familiar with the idea already, give it a try...
Here's a cool little item that might find a good home in the second 12V power port on my 2001 Tacoma.
It's a adapter to convert -- on a semi-permanent basis -- one of the 12V outlets into a 5V standard USB. With mobile phones, GPS units, iPods, and so on moving more and more to 5V, I've been...
Any experience with Kaymar rear bars for a Tacoma?
I've been delighted with the Kaymar rear bumper on my 1988 Cherokee XJ for the last dozen or so years. It's knocked over parking meters, survived numerous backcountry camping trips, opened a lot of space in the rear of the XJ by relocating the...
