    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

An Interesting Piece of News . . . When I went up to the Northwest Overland Rally last weekend, there was a bit of irony that I attended as a passenger and resident of Jeremy's big E-350 U-Joint conversion, VANdiana. The big fellow had gone around SE Utah with my XV-JP last fall: and I...

Thanks for the photos, Ken. The renovation seems to tick all the boxes, and should work out great. Warm congratulations on it coming together.

That was an extremely useful and well-written report, and I very much appreciate your insights. Thanks.

U.S. alternative to Seitz top hinged windows

Although I remember virtually nothing useful (most notably, I can't come up with the British supplier), I recall talking to a builder who did this and had a positive experience. The seller was happy to help and, IIRC, was sufficiently aghast at shipping charges as to offer a discount to help...

2003 Mitsubushi FG Overland Camper Renovation

We'll be there on Thursday evening. I'll probably be ride-sharing with Jeremy in his big Ford diesel van . . . save the planet and all that. (And if we do encounter each other, I'll have news to share. ;) )

    Sprinter advice

Forty mile freeway trips in a T1N cargo Sprinter are hardly punishing, but it is a commercial truck and you'll get the good with the bad. The main reason you might not like it is that it'll be noisy compared to a car, SUV or pickup. But driveability should be good, and the fuel economy of the...

    disc-o-bed

I looked into it extensively and the reports I got from users suggested that it was a pretty good bunk setup, but that sofa mode wasn't going to impress most people. You're very low to the ground and the backrest very vertical. That may or may not be an important part of the decision, but...

    2015 Sprinter 4x4 build begins

All important techniques, and you can also soften the bond by using 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. It'll generally work to let you unstick whatever was held down and then soften the residue. But it's messier than the non-chemical techniques. I resort to it when the other heat and/or prying...

What he said, especially if you go to the trouble to clean the surface well and apply the 3M adhesion promoter.

    LX470 maintenance and repair cost?

Well done. And your 3,000th post no less. :clapsmile

    LX470 maintenance and repair cost?

I've had three LXs, and agree with all of the advice above. They have proven to be cheap to own and operate because of totally outstanding reliability. And that's not just "won't strand me in the desert" reliability; it's also "all the gimcracks and tiny bits are like new after 150K miles"...

U.S. alternative to Seitz top hinged windows

I'm glad to have been of help. Given that I design to have all of my campers have a large number of windows--helps to have all the light you can manage in Oregon winters--I, too, suspect that cost concerns will always have me focused on the lower end windows. I will remind the group that in the...

U.S. alternative to Seitz top hinged windows

I only can comment on the "standard" Seitz S4 windows, of which I have had many across different campers. They are "plasticky," and built to a price . . . and the price does not seem any great value for the fairly flimsy pieces you get. That said, however, the glazing portions have always...

Was acquiring them and getting them to you relatively straightforward? Any advice to pass on should one wish to go this route? Thanks.
