10TH NW SPRINTERFEST--Sat. 5/30/15; Tualatin, OR (Note Later Date)

Hard to know why different vendors do or don't make an appearance. Perhaps they have all the work they want at the moment? That doesn't explain, though, why only a handful of suppliers of critical parts show up. Fifty vans with an average of $10K invested in components is half-a-million...

None from me, sadly. I was busy most of the time showing my own truck to people, not that I'm much of a photographer anyway. I'll keep my eye on the Sprinter Source forum to see if someone there posts any. Sorry you didn't make it, Paddy. Good luck with your build.

It will be good to see pictures of this one, but in the meantime, there's about a zillion on the internet:

YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE . . . I know, I say that every year . . . Just a brief report to let you know that the 10th Annual Northwest SprinterFest happened without too much different from previous years. Perfect weather, and a nice lunch provided by Upscale. Everything went smoothly, which...

    curiosity about earth roamers

Pricing for new EarthRoamers is here: http://earthroamer.com/xv-lt/pricing/ The very first Ford F450-based units are mostly under $150K, but the newest used XV-LTs, not surprisingly, cost close to the price of a new one. When it has any, EarthRoamer lists its consignment units here...

4x4 Sprinter Expected And I forgot to mention . . . I'm not saying it's going to happen--last year Outside Van was expected but didn't show up--but as of a week ago, John expected the people from Mercedes-Benz of Seattle to bring down a 4x4 Sprinter for people to look at. See everyone tomorrow.

10TH NW SPRINTERFEST--Sat. 5/30/15; Tualatin, OR (Note Later Date)

SERIOUSLY, THOUGH . . . The event is free and open to everybody. (And, in particular, if you have a Promaster or Transit, do attend, as the Sprinter multitudes will be most eager to see you.)

Jeremy, you of all people should appreciate the sanctity and uppityness of the German auto conclave. Actually, it's great that Jeremy's big E-350 will be stopping by. People can try to stand up in it and then remember how pleased they are they have Sprinters. :sombrero:

My Sprinter shall be there, and I'll be happy to give you any and all information you can stand. BTW, I forgot to mention that there's an on-line pre-registration form those bringing a Sprinter can use: http://softecusa.com/sprinterwest.html Not mandatory, but it saves a little time. The...

    It is here! 2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4

Good heavens. Now Odyssey owners can move up to the three-pointed star. This is the Mercedes Vito van that's been around Europe for a while, so it's not like we got anything special, but it's reasonably well regarded over there. Cargo-wise, I'm sure this is a reaction to the Ram Promaster...

    Got a sprinter! Now what?

Sadly, no. Some weight over the rear wheels will help, as will some on-board air so you are OK with lowering tire pressures (which, BTW, don't need to be nearly as high as the pressures listed if you're not at GVWR). Then it's down to recovery gear. Also, the Sprinter is a truck where you can...

Building Mercedes Sprinter "box" as a overland camper

Good grief. I'd have thought Mercedes Formula One to be one of the least likely groups to totally, absolutely, catastrophically foul up. Maybe that engineering team that used English instead of metric units when they lost the Marian orbiter fifteen years ago finally found a new line of work...

Building Mercedes Sprinter "box" as a overland camper

Wow, what an impressive event and place to take your newly-finished truck. (I'm hoping for anyone but Mercedes to win, but based on qualifying, I'm not hopeful.) Enjoy yourselves!

    It is here! 2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4

Well, the good news is that here's a way to get a nicely equipped 4x4 without the near half-year wait it sometimes takes when you order one. The downside is that it's a 2015, and if you ordered one today, you'll get a 2016, and that year will make a difference to the resale value down the road...

    ford cabover?

I'm guessing you're talking about a Ford Cf7000, also called the Cargo 7000, which is a pretty heavy duty truck. In fact, 29,500 pounds was probably the most common GVWR, which would require a CDL to drive. Even the lightest duty ones are pretty heavy for overlanding use. Now if you plan to...

    Sprinter openable rear window options

They make a few different versions, so I don't know just what you got, but my prediction is that you'll be happy with them. The ones I've had have all been good ones. There's nothing exotic about the Sprinter-specific offerings, as they are just single glass-paned solid or slider windows in a...

    Sprinter openable rear window options

Thanks a good question. Yeah, you can occasionally get a little bit of exhaust coming inside, but it's wasn't really a problem. The '04-up Sprinters' exhaust really isn't all that stinky (the '02-'03 is a bit worse) and when you're driving, your nose is about 12 feet from the windows anyway. All...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Yeah, buddy, everything is good. As you may have heard. this was the year with no winter, though; it's been freakishly nice here for months. I got more time in on the motos in the past winter/spring than in any normal five years combined. Nice, though if the normal temperature delta holds, it's...
