disco 1 tdi in a US spec rover

It is very important that you increase the off boost fueling. This gets rid of a large amount of the turbo lag. You should never need to slip the clutch.

If I were you I'd wait to change any gearing until after the engine is installed. The stock 1.2 gearing works well with a TDI, IMO. Overgearing them just makes them rev high wasting fuel.

    Canadian Disco 2 Build

Put some real lights on for reversing. When in the bush, it makes life much easier. Mount them high as they stay cleaner and provide better coverage.

disco 1 tdi in a US spec rover

You just get someone to pull everything from a wrecked Disco in the UK, or bring a complete vehicle over. Common, easy conversion. You need the TDI gearbox as well. The V8 gearboxes are different.

Sorry, that is overlap. You have inadeqaute fusion to the lower piece. You are running too cold and not welding the complete lower plate prior to allowing the pool to run onto it . I'm a welding inspector. I would suggest running stick. It is quite difficult to get a poor stick weld.

There is some overlap on the weld to the right. You need to make sure you are melting the parent metal.

I feel like I just stumbled into Pirate4x4 and did not realize it. Get abused for going wheeling. Looks like a normal day out for me INCLUDING the big expedition trips I've done. Get abused for asking question about driveshaft options. Crazy. I personally design things with 6000 hp motors...

    Sankey trailer appeal

For off road use, the surge brakes are invaluable. Non braked or electric braked trailers are dangerous off road.

    Mobicool/Waeco A40 3-way Fridge?

Are we talking about Crappy Tire? They don't seem to list the cooler any more. I was kind of hoping for some real world tests.... edit: Oops, need to try harder, http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/AutoAccessories/TravelCoolersWarmers/PRD~0370100P/3-Way%2BPower%2BCooler%252C%2B40L.jsp

I was such a fool selling my Chescold before leaving Australia... I may need to buck up for shipping and get another.

    Mobicool/Waeco A40 3-way Fridge?

It would be good to see some actual first hand experience. When I lived in Australia, I had a Chescold cooler and it was fantastic. 1 week easy on a 5 lb bottle and would freeze at will in 40 C weather. Much more convenient than an electric fridge. But...they cost $1100 new. Easy to pick up...
