The shortness of the LJ top can be overcome with a slight nose bump out over the windshield. Ideally you want to have a mattress length of 80" so it is conceivable that a reasonable sleep area can be created. That being said, using some common parts may be a possibility. That actually is the...
Thanks for the numbers, they correlate what I have found. At an optimistic purchase ratio of 3/10th of 1% for the universe of 46,492, the potential buyers only represent about 140 units... hmmm
This discussion would be best moved to its own thread to continue the dialog
The first days of heavy rain and we had it out and deployed in the lot all day. Fabric shed water as we had hoped and had no capillary action on the inside when we rubbed the fabric aggressively. The new skirt shed water as we had hoped. We put it away in the shop overnight, the fabric was...
We have a set of 5 tires, six months old, that we are trying to sell for a client who switched to another size.
Size: 35 x 12.50 R17 ProComp Xtreme A/T
Condition: One tire was the spare and is new with the full 5/8" tread. The other four tires have 1/2" tread or 75% life left. They were...
IMO, the most important things are a good attitude and strong conviction that what you are trying to accomplish is worth it. Armed with that, anything is possible. Would I do it? Yes, if the reasons were compelling. Only you can answer that question for yourself.
Overlanders spend years...
Good point. If roof cave in is your concern, you may want to consider a properly built interior cage instead that would preserve the function of the AT Flippac.
The hardest thing I've had to deal with over the years with the MJ build has been stress cracks across the fire wall. To abate them I...
No, I had not considered it nor would I do it. I don't think it would be very practical. Operation of the AT Flippac would problematic at best and I would not want to add any additional weight that would raise the CG. Excessive weight is the enemy of the Overlander.
While body armor is rather...
I run self container vehicle for two with a 60 watt panel. It sounds like you will be using 30-40 amps per day. If you plan to spend 3 days in one spot at a time, then you will need 80-120 watts worth of panels depending upon the time of year. There is a simple calculation you can perform found...
Nice unit it it fits your application.
I found this comment surprising: "According to Jeep, this is the first time an off-road camper trailer has been designed and manufactured specifically to mate with a Jeep ".
1.The ""pop-top" section is not available seperately. It is integrated and made to work specifically with the lower section that we build. I am assuming that you are thinking of mating it to a factory hardtop. This would not be possible.
2. The total Habitat is about 100 lbs more than the...
In the following CARB document related to "Utility Jugs" I do not see any such exception allowed.
http://www.arb.ca.gov/enf/advs/advs342.pdf
The only mention of "off-highway" that I have found in the rule is in section 2467.3 (e) specifically related to rapid refilling devices used in...
You're welcome. It wasn't me though, it was a customer.
Almost forgot about that one! Redline certainly put the rear receiver and his coupler well beyond the design spec limits and they held up. Amazing.
The mount and mating jug are very nicely done. The jugs however are not CARB compliant. Their website says "*Not to be used as a fuel container in States with Air Resources Board Restrictions". CARB restrictions were adopted by the EPA and now apply to all 50 states.
Since January of 2009, the...
You are correct. The coupler was severed. The MC is designed for 180 degrees of vertical axis. The impact and subsequent bending of the draw bar put the coupler past its 180 degree range. Something had to give.
Very true indeed. I will post picture of trailer side coupler on Monday
You may...
Often this question comes up. It is one thing for us to describe why we build our trailers the way we do in anticipation of rigorous duty and our own testing, it is another thing when our customers run our trailers through their paces and come back to us with amazing stories such as this...
Marty,
Part is being shipped via 2nd day. We believe heat treatment may have been at fault. Once you return old part, we will analyze and report back. Installation instructions have been e-mailed.
Marty,
These cracks are worrisome and I advise against deployment until we can get replacement parts to you. AT fully stands behind all of our products and will take care of this for you.
The hinge parts are heat treated & plated after the spline is made into the part. Although I cannot be...
