Engaging the bolt compresses the springs and de-activates the spring brakes which are your emergency and parking brakes. This is called caging the brakes.
The cylinders on the front axle will be smaller as they do not have the spring.
The rear brakes with the spring need to be adjusted so that...
Jon, the truck should not move with the spring brakes engaged. It sounds like they are way out of adjustment. This is serious as the spring brakes are also your emergency brake in case of catastrophic air loss. Chock the front wheels on level ground. Jack the rear wheel off the ground. there is...
Also consider Seabridge.
Be prepared to get screwed over by the shipping companies. Returning from south America our shipping costs doubled at the last minute. Take it or leave it.
Agreed,
The OP is definitely going the right route with a large high voltage panel and MPPT controller.
I would also consider Morningstar MPPT and if you have room for two panels put in a controller large enough to handle two panels.
The panel will be fine, The issue will be making sure the wiring is large enough to handle the amperage. You will also need appropriate sized breakers. you can make a 12V or any voltage system you want.
Basically You connect all your charge sources to the house bank, done.
You will need a charger between the generator and the batteries. The alternator and solar can be connected at the same time, the solar charge controller and the alternator will be fine.
You need a SOC meter with a shunt that...
Webasto Thermotop C 5.2kW
18'X8'X8' 4" floor, 2 1/2" walls, 3" roof, composite foam.
We have run it -10 C at 14000', it was not happy! occasionally would not fire up for a number of attempts.
Much happier at 10000' and below.
Heats the habitat comfortably down to -30C (I spent the winter in...
Drinking untreated surface water is not safe.
Municipal water(excluding Flint, Moab, etc.) no worries.
Maintain your tanks, fill with safe water only or treat, and you are good to go.
You need to be using true deep cycle batteries. The Costco battery is a starter battery
You need to look at golf cart or a manufacturer that makes true deep cycle batteries such as Lifeline or Rolls Surette, and you need to get them back to full charge at least once a week, more often if...
