For me, the beer just changes to Guinness
Mr Buddy heater is great for taking the edge off the tent before shutting it off and going to sleep
I also ratchet down my risk tolerance. It's way too easy to get into a situation where ice ruins your day, like it almost did for me last year. More...
I just had a 5x8 built by Proline trailers in NH. Really looking forward to building it out. RTT and awning up top, dinette converts to bed inside with an outside rear cooking area. I'm leaving the torsion axle and skinny 15" tires for better highway manners. It'll see gravel but nothing...
Some great looking trailers in this thread!
Amen. I'm in the process of ordering a 5x8 cargo trailer to serve as a basecamp. It'll be small and light enough to tow behind my Rubicon. My RTT will go on it, and I'm working on a design for a dinette / bed to use when the weather is nasty...
Our time in Newfoundland was sadly at an end, but we had a few days of exploring left that we were really looking forward to. Back to Cape Breton Island we went!
The seas were a bit rougher than our previous trip, it made the trip quite a bit more entertaining!
We unloaded in the...
We woke up to a beautiful panoramic sunrise on the beach, which I was utterly incapable of capturing.
We hit the road with some more exploring in the Codroy Valley on our plate for the day. My absolute favorite kind of exploring, hiking along an unknown coastline and keeping an eye out for...
The facilities at Pistolet Bay Provincial Park were excellent. The entire park had quite an alpine feel to it, I wouldn't mind spending a few days up there in the future, and using it as a home base to explore the northern end of the island. It's set a bit inland, and as such without the ocean...
Exploring the sleepy coves of Newfoundland made me seriously consider my life choices... and wonder if I could eek out a living in such a beautiful, remote place.
For now, visiting will have to suffice.
We could've spent all day taking in the sights here - Cemetery Hill, Cape Onion...
After our fantastic adventure in Gros Morne, we continued in a northerly direction, following the coast. We saw a sign for Arches Provincial Park, and pulled a U-turn to go check it out. What a beautiful natural formation.
We camped that night alongside a pair of Safari pop-top GMC vans...
Thanks for the comments everyone! We were told the Gros Morne area has the highest Moose density in Newfoundland, like 5 per sq KM, but we didn't see any there! We kept our eyes open for Moose the entire drive, and we finally saw some when we least expected it!
Since the theme of the day was rain, after exploring the beach and filling our bellies we turned in and prayed for sunshine.
The next day we worked our way around to the tiny fishing village. There was nobody there except for a nice couple from the states driving a Chevy pickup with a...
Continuing our rainy day exploring, our next goal was to see if we could catch a glimpse of Point Rosie / Rosee, the site of the latest suspected Norse settlement in North America.
In the documentary, it looked like there was a two-track to follow, but there was also a bit of hiking involved...
