    Hi-Lift Mounting options

Yep. To mount the Hi-Lift to my Sprinter's bumper, we just welded on two bolts and attached the jack with wing nuts, securing it with a small lock put through a hole drilled through one of the bolts.

    Hi-Lift Mounting options

Ummmm . . . not sure. I think it'll could work, but it'd have a lot less contact area and maybe wouldn't stop rotation, though it probably would hold the jack onto the tube fine. If the jack rests against something or if you engineer a pin or tab arrangement to resist rotation, I think it'd be...

Oregon -- eastern Oregon wanderings (Silvies Unit)

Thanks for the trip report and the road directions. Just what I need, though I think I'll be waiting a few months. ;)

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

I added it to the VAST collection of leftover camper parts accumulated during the past decade. I am not far from being able to open a store, or at least have a sizable garage sale.

    Hi-Lift Mounting options

My jack is mounted to the top tube of the XV-JP's bumper using Hi-Lift's own tube mounts: You can get these from any of the usual suspects. A closer view: They work well, and I'm very happy with the placement. Blocks a tiny bit of forward vision, but it's not like there was much to begin with.

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Making my butt look thinner . . . Greetings, long-suffering thread readers, Those who have plodded through this thread from the early days know that I absolutely hated the heavy, giant swing-away rear rack that came with the XV-JP from EarthRoamer: While it was cool that it stored ax...

The XV-JP Needs Help, Please, from a Jeep Aerodynamicist. (Really)

WOW! Epic fail. :( Sticking the Airtabs at the front of the cockpit roof, as shown in the picture above, totally did not work. I have no doubt that they made a big change in the air flow and could have eliminated the intermittent speed/wind direction dependent howl. The problem is that they...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

I'm not sure I can say I "recommend" them, never having had others for comparison, but I have a pair of the folding Land Rover wheel chocks and they seem to do the job. All metal, fold nice and small and they, well, chock the wheel just fine. I'm not sure where I got mine, but they seem to...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Hiya, Pat. Hope all is well. Thanks for the link. I wanted to make that Pelican case work, but it was just a little too big. Pelican gives the outside dimensions of the 1700 as 38.12"L x 17.81"W x 6.12"H, which is a little long, but more importantly, considerably wider than the one I found, at...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

One of the interesting issues most all of us face is how much stuff to carry when. Bicyclists have it the worst and think life is plush for motorcyclists, on up to people with Class A motorhomes who envy the space in those huge underbelly bays of the bus conversions. The XV-JP is a pretty small...

Looking for a small propane heater

Is the Coleman Sport Cat too big? It's only 1500 BTU and I don't know of anything smaller. Not too much taller than the cylinder itself.

Jensen, you cane toad. I was worried you'd been eaten by something. Listen, mate . . . Do not come home. The rain is awful. Send QANTAS to fetch us all. :sombrero: Seriously, thanks for the compliment, and for the tire mount that made it all work out. Stay safe and don't work too hard, Mike

Roof Rack Completion Over the Jeep's "development period," the contents of the roof rack has been sparse and varied. I just got it into final form, though, and am very pleased with the results. One thing that had to happen first was to stop moving the spare tire back and forth. It started life...

The XV-JP Needs Help, Please, from a Jeep Aerodynamicist. (Really)

Well, we've got some Airtabs. A whole bunch, in fact, of which we'll start with two. Airtabs--when not painter yellow to match a Corvette--look like this: If you want them to improve aerodynamics or reduce spray off the back of your trailer, you use lots of them an inch apart. But all I...

    Best Glamping Mat

Remarkably, I have this pad as well (Glamping-R-US) and it is also very comfortable. I'd certainly consider it if my layout permitted the pad to be laid flat all the time. There is, however, no chance of getting this one into anything small enough to be easily storable. The rolled-up Exped is a...

    LX450 + CHINOOK CONVERSION

Also the stainless steel containers used for holding restaurant buffet and salad bar components. Very inexpensive compared to any official sink, and several workable sizes.
