    Bikepacking Gear for sale

I have one more item to liberate. I have a Garmin eTrex 30 I would sell for only $150. It's in beautiful shape, with no signs of use. We're old pals having been to three countries on two continents, but I have a new unit and this one just sits on my desk waiting to go on another adventure. I...

    Bikepacking Gear for sale

So, here's what I have left: Rab eVent waterproof/breathable jacket. Super light. Size Med. Never worn. Let's call it $75. It was $180 new. It will be super cheap to ship. Mountain Hardwear Phantom 32 800 fill sleeping bag. It's a killer summer bag. If it gets in the low 40s, yer gonna be...

    Cogburn Expedition Build-up

There are many trips I do that are way better to do solo. The harder they are, the more likely I will do them alone. Managing my own suffering and risks is hard enough. Compounding that by balancing it with another person is just...it sucks. My best friend and I have done some super hard trips...

    Bikepacking Gear for sale

The other nice item I have for sale is a Mountian Hardware Phantom 32 800-fill down sleeping bag, size Regular. It is the smallest (packed size) bag I have used in a long time. This particular bag has not been used very much, always stored hanging in a bedroom closet, and is in like new...

    Bikepacking Gear for sale

The best jacket I have is a Rab Fuse. Made of Pertex it is a super lightweight waterproof/breathable shell. I bought it for Iceland, ended up taking another jacket, and believe it or not...lost this Rab jacket in a bag for a year. Found it, don't need it, never wore it. New they were $180. I'd...

    Bikepacking Gear for sale

Hey Miles, I have a Clikstand/Trangia stove system with an Evernew Ti pot I'd sell for $75 shipped. I acquired it for a review, used it on two trips to boil water and it looks as good as new. It would be pretty ideal for your big upcoming trip. You can read about it here...

FS: Zamberlan Tofane GTW NW RR Boots, 45/11US, like new

I bought this pair of boots for an OJ review and they were one half size too big. I ordered a smaller size, love them, but need to get this pair on another set of feet. I got a good deal, so I'm just passing that good deal along. I used this pair for one day around town, so that is why they are...

    iOS 9 released today

And not to derail a thread, the new Edge Plus is superior to the iPhone 6 Plus with a better display, camera, 75% more ram, smaller size, bigger display, lighter, bigger battery, faster aperture for low light performance, double the mega pickles in both cameras,.. Easy choice if you ask me...

    iOS 9 released today

That's good information, Nate. For the record, my iPhone 5s performance for the last year has not been without some issues as well. I'm on my second 5s and I baby all of my gear, even the stuff I use daily and to max potential. I'm not overly worried about damaging the phone for that reason. In...

    iOS 9 released today

My wife installed IOS 9 on her 5s. She admitted she doesn't usually jump on updates too quickly, and this time should not have. It torpedoed her phone so badly, Apple suggested a replacement. Like thousands of others, her phone got locked in "slide to upgrade" mode and had required a full...

    Garmin etrex 30 + basecamp?

The eTrex is great and joins me on most of my trips where portability is key. It is ideally suited to hiking, mountain biking, etc. The 30 has the capacity to pair to heart rate monitors, power meters, etc. It also has an electronic compass whcih isn't a big deal to most. If the 30 appeals to...

Packing for the Alpine Loop - Salsa Deadwood

I spent several weeks alternating DW and Ti Fargo for my daily ride. It was interesting to ride the same trails and roads back to back. What I discovered was, the DW with the 2.8 tires and 45mm rims excels on almost every surface and scenario I put in front of it. The on-road performance was...

Packing for the Alpine Loop - Salsa Deadwood

Sounds to me like you need a Fargo, not a Dw. The Boost spacing is critical for chain/tire clearance on these newer plus-size bikes. If you're going to run Crest rims and 2.4 tires, they'll clear the fork no problem as it's the same on both bikes. It will be a teeny bit tight on the Fargo rear...

Packing for the Alpine Loop - Salsa Deadwood

I can't see the advantage of buying a DW, and good luck getting one, and then not embracing the larger tires. They really, really do work when you go off gravel. Don't forget, the DW is rolling on 45mm rims, so going down a tire size below 2.8 is going to probably feel weird. As for the Boost...
