    High clearance hitch cargo rack

I bought the harbor freight rack, which looks very similar to that TMS rack on amazon except the HF one didn't have that much of a rise. The HF one I bought was rated for 300lbs. Check your max tongue weight, it may only be 300lbs! Subtract the weight of the rack and now you have your safe...

    Plasti Dip longevity on wheels?

I PD'd my winter wheels on my challenger. The wheels started painted grey from the factory. I didn't remove the tires. Cleaned the wheels really well, and wiped them down with lacquer thinner before spraying. Took 3 coats. The coats lasted great, through many miles and hand washes. I had...

Help with JK Rubicon models (from a Land Cruiser guy)

The subwoofer moved in '15. My 14 has the "old" style that sticks out from the hinge side of the door. My '15 has it built into the cubby under the floor.

If you were to start all over with a brand new truck, which would you choose?

I know the question is which truck?, not truck vs. jeep, but I seriously considered a tradesman PW before I bought my rubicon. The primary problem for me is the sheer size of the PW. Up here in the Northeast, fitting down tight trails is a serious concern. The width, length, weight, and...

    Cooper ST Maxx vs AT3

I bought LT255/80/R17 Load Range E ST Maxx's a few months ago, very happy with them. I have 6k miles on them, so far so good. I tend to run my jeep at it's max GVWR when loaded for camping and air down to 15-25 psi depending on the terrain and the speed of travel. I bought for $197/tire at...

How to pack up a JKU for camping?

I try to put all my tools and heavy items in the backseat footwell to help with weight distribution. Under the backseat goes stuff that I hopefully won't need since it's a huge pain to dig them out (spare parts, other SHTF items). All food and kitchen gets packed in the back along with the...

Another Way to Lift Up RTT for Mounting onto Roof Rack

I like the look of your contraption. I built a gantry on the cheap, using a couple 8' ladders, a long 4x4, some pulleys, and a cheap harbor freight electric winch mounted in the garage. It's a hassle to setup and use, but it does work. I'm always looking for easier solutions though and this...

    Jerry Cans Plastic vs Metal

I bought these: http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/GJC20K4 They work great, but I keep them in my shed when they're not in use so they're not exposed to much weather. They seal completely, no venting. No rattles when held down with 2" ratchet straps.

    Daily kit for winter

For winter DD'ing, I keep a high-vis jacket, fire extinguisher, small medic kit, and basic recovery gear (strap, d-rings, gloves). If you need more than that, call a tow truck. If I'm going on a long drive with the possibility of a storm, I'll ratchet up my gear accordingly. The suggestions...

Help with JK Rubicon models (from a Land Cruiser guy)

I have a 2014 rubicon 4 door, 3.6L 5 spd auto soft top and a 2015 rubicon 4 door, 3.6L 6 spd manual hardtop. Both have 4.10s. Both average 17-18 mpg. Both work incredibly well off-road. The auto is nice. I have 45k miles on it. Only service it needed was a replacement radiator after it...

How do you get your dog in and out of your RTT?

My 55lb mix sleeps in the tent with us. I carry her up and down the ladder, she used to fight it but now that she's gotten used to it she's good. When she gets tired, she'll put 2 paws up on the ladder and whine to go to bed lol... I like that rug on the hood idea!

DRAM 3, Dirt Roads Across Maine. The Legend Continues.

Welcome to Lubec After more than 500 miles had passed beneath our tires, the checkered flag showed up on the GPS. The flag that symbolized we were within shouting distance of our goal. With a short stretch on County Road, we took our final turn onto South Lubec Road. We paralleled the...
