Sad End to This Cautionary Tale, As Folks Start to Head Back Out Into the Wilds, Pls Be Careful

Here is a screen grab from the USGS topo quad download page. I marked up the very rough boundary of Death Valley National Park. By my count, there are at least 110 individual maps one would need to cover the entire park. You are 100% spot on about pre-planning. We have stuff available to us...

    Iceco JP40 or VL45?

I can't personally compare the two, but I do own the JP40. I really like it. Used it on several trips so far and it has worked great. Again, not sure about the other, but the iceco uses the Danfross compressor, which is highly regarded. Here is a review video that I made of the JP40. In it I...

    New Bronco

Not sure if it has been said yet, but I think the best thing that has happened to the Wrangler has been the introduction of the Bronco. This seems to be the only real competition as a 1:1 to the Wrangler. I think it will make the Wrangler better in the future. I think the Bronco is a good...

Sad End to This Cautionary Tale, As Folks Start to Head Back Out Into the Wilds, Pls Be Careful

I would argue that while the USGS maps are not inherently inaccurate, they don't take into account 100% of everything. They simply cannot. Not at a 1:24,000 scale. They show gross elevation and elevation changes, vegetation, overlay, some water features, and large man made objects of importance...

Sad End to This Cautionary Tale, As Folks Start to Head Back Out Into the Wilds, Pls Be Careful

Ok, not lost, but they were stranded when the car had two flats. But they were stranded at a safe place. As for the flats, funny story. Buddy called me up with a flat. I went to lend a hand. It was slow leak, so still could drive a little on it. I asked where his spare tire was. He had zero...

Sad End to This Cautionary Tale, As Folks Start to Head Back Out Into the Wilds, Pls Be Careful

I have not checked this tread since the couple was found. I am astonished and sad that the guy is dead. To be quite honest, I'm actually pretty mad. And don't come at me with sad songs of how we should be respectful. Believe me, I am. When you get lost, and as long as you are not in imminent...

25K miles on KO2 before I gave up

See, that's funny. I put 25K miles on the tires and there is somewhere around 1/2 tread life left on them.

25K miles on KO2 before I gave up

I'm trying to visualize this and cannot. Are you talking about the wheel or the tire? As for throwing weights, that's just lazy work from the installer. I had that happen before. They were not cleaning the surface before using the stick-on weights.

25K miles on KO2 before I gave up

I actually bought them from a dude that just purchased a Rubicon. The tire may have had 500-100 miles on them which was backed up by his odometer. I think my jeep just did not like them.
