Almost forgot...... A sneak peak at my new tires, currently have about 65-70% tread on my rear conti. MPT 81s in the 41" variety. Owwww, how the treps make them look small............... ;>)
RTT from 23 Zero (Byron) is on the truck. Installed that bad boy on my own (ok, I had a fork lift to help lift it up onto the rack). I set the tent so the 270 awning will close up against it, that makes the tent overhang the back about 8 inches. I have measured and I am going to order / build...
Not a 1500, but I bet they would build a shorter version (currently build 8' and 6'4" versions). Its all aluminum (except for the stainless hardware), will work with the backflip revolver (thats what I have on mine) but does not come powder coated. I asked if it was possible, what I was told...
A couple of pics of the Bat 270 awning on the truck. Had to put the awning out to make sure it worked lolol..... Road shower and RTT should be here in the next few days. Probably the second week of Jan. before we have the HAM / UHF / VHF Como system built and in the truck. I have gotta find...
I have been running Conti. MPT81s for almost a year now, around 18K on the truck and the tires since it was brand new. I agree with the load / speed rating and the effects of load in comparison to speed. In the end HEAT is the big killer of these tires, second to that is shock dampening (the...
Great question. I guess so, hows that for an answer. I think the AEV kit is good if you are limited on budget and want to run a 40"-42" tire. I have found that the truck rides great, much better than stock (but thats in part to the lower air pressures and larger sidewall of the 41" tires). I...
I am a fan of the Conti MPT81's. Understand that they have limitations, I have around 18K on the rears, just put 2 brand new tires on the front. Dodge trucks seem to eat front tires, I was rotating them every 2500 miles but I gave up on the last two rotations and just let the fronts go away...
Forgot to say, also had the feet that sit on the bed rails changed so I could use the rack with a Revolver X2 roll up bed cover ( the revolver had a semi rigid aluminum backing, a type of interlocking slats that pivot enough to allow it to roll up). I looked at a lot of other racks, some that I...
Busy the last few days. The base for my adventure rack is done. I say base because it is just the basic platform. We are building a bunch of other stuff for it (i.e. custom aluminum fishing pole holders - a bottom box that will hold a folding table to the bottom of the rack - aluminum storage...
Sorry for the delayed response. I have been buried with medical appointments and life around the retirement process. We have been pretty busy with the truck and I am hopeful to have some pictures of the new stuff we have / are having built for it soon. The prototype front skid plate for the...
Do tell!!! I would buy a set if I knew were to purchase said tires. Although, the secretary might balk about a third set or tires and wheels for the truck.... lololol
Are you going to try a Hawk or a Grandby? I was told that the load carrying capacity of the roof was close to 600 pounds on a FWC, what are your thoughts on solar panels and a spare tire up there? I sure like the idea of the hawk not protruding out past the rear bumper but I also like the extra...
Tex68w makes a very good point. The good 270 awnings are both heavy and they do put a lot of strain on the mounting points. Fiberglass is probably not going to be happy. A retractable awning? hmmmm, I will have to look that one up. Im sure someone does.
Not to highjack the thread, so I will say this and let it alone. I have a very good friend who works for the VA and he is one of the greatest people I know. Second, the problem I have right now is the unknown, and that for a fact is not anyones fault, its just the way it is. I have heard horror...
Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do. I have gone and looked at FWC's several times. I do think their prices are a bit inflated for what your getting, but I have no question about their quality, durability and utility. I do really like them for sure. Who do you think makes the...
You are absolutely correct, the process is a pain, but ow well. Are you any closer to your decision on a flat bed / tray bed? I would love to flat bed my truck and drop a 4wheel camper on it or an XP camper (post lottery) just for the utility of it.
Its still up in the air right now. Im retiring from the Army (medical), anyways.... Trying to decide if Im going to go back to school or travel like a wandering 47 year old man with a cool truck, some camera gear and a map. lolol. We will see what the VA sess a broken neck, nerve damage and...
They are the Black Rhino "Armory" wheels in 20 x 9 with I thingy 18mm offset. They have been great, held up very well. Actually, I can't say I have had a single issue with them at all. They even balanced very well. I have 2 41" conti's with less than 6 ounces of weight on them.
