    **Tepui RTTs and Accessories**

On my Autana (std) the awning hoop is at a 45* to the plane of the tent vice level with it. If you look closely, you'll see where the corners are. This will draw the top half taught while the guy lines and annex will draw the bottom portion taut. FWIW, my cover has been holding up pretty well...

    What Jeep do I want?

Wranglers, including the newest JK/JKU, are an irrational purchase for most everyone as a daily driver. Those of us that own them would probably agree but include a laundry list of justifications (some for ourselves, mostly for our wives). Despite a million reasons not to buy one, nearly all...

how heavily is is jeep modified? how much do you have into it?

I'd consider my build moderate. Because I'm a dork, I actually have a spreadsheet that keeps a running tally of what I've put into it as well as future wants and needs. Considering I bought my JKU new off the lot, I'd say I've done fairly well considering many people pay more than what I have...

    I can't deicide which tire!!

In PNW terrain I've had no issues with the sidewalls on my GY Duratracs (315/75-R16) even when aired down to 8lbs. Our terrain is primarily dirt, mud, tree roots, and smoother rocks. We do have plenty of downed tree branches that you'd think would cause more of an issue. I love them for snow...

    Anyone have a leaking top

My soft top is more watertight than my hard top. Mine leaks around the doors and I've just grown to accept it. I removed my carpets and it isn't as much of an issue anymore.

Realistically...how often do you use your hi-lift?

The H3 has IFS and trust me, it is significantly easier to use a 60" Hi-Lift and OEM front shackles on that truck in lieu of a bottle jack. That is what I did when I had mine. The shock mounts on an H3 without aftermarket skids aren't the best for jacking; GM kinda screwed up there...

    Lift options for my JKU

I have that exact same kit on my JKU with no issues. I was able to install it in my driveway with relative ease. Being that you went with 33's, why bother with a lift? If you want some more gap, why not cut the flares? If you end up hating the look, replacements can always be found on CL...

Auto Express: Chrysler brand axed in the UK

Most likely the Grand Wagoneer will be a face lifted Commander. This isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as they give us a version with some trail cred instead of another confused SRT SUV. As far as the Rogue competitor, I could envision the return of the Compass since it was more urban...

    Post your tents

I know that mine personally does not, but the Tepui ____-Sky models and I think Eezi-Awn or Howling Moon also have this option. CVT more than likely has a stargazer version as well.

Hard Side or Soft Side Rooftop Tent?

My Tepui Autana has the internal shock cords. To be honest, I think it is a feature of dubious benefit. The difference with or without them isn't all that great and you still need to spend a few minutes shoving the extra material back into "the sandwich" when you use them.

    Vintage Coleman Springbar Tent

Collector appeal? I'm a "collector" of tents, but not in the sense you are referring to. I would either put it to use or get rid of it. The downside of the old canvas tents is the inevitable odor. I don't mind the slightly musty smell, but some people can't stand it. If the tent was stored...

Hard Side or Soft Side Rooftop Tent?

If it was even money between the two types I would go with a soft RTT with annex for the additional space and enclosed changing room. I've solo camped in my Tepui Autana RTT in the winter snow and didn't find it to be too cold, of course I ran a Lil' Buddy heather in the annex below and left...

You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away...

I call it quits as soon as it stops putting a smile on my face. Sometimes it's after a series of small repairs early in its life or when I've dumped thousands more than its worth into it late in life. No matter what, I'll never eat ramen or ask my family to cut back on their lifestyle to...

    2012 Wrangler cylinder head failure

My 2012 has ~42k on the clock and no problems with the engine yet. Fingers crossed since I dumped my H3 for the JKU after it went through two heads in 50k miles (I traded it in when the latest head gave up the ghost and it was in need of yet a third rebuild).

    Sub-compact hatchback organization

Predominantly soft storage is the only way to go when you are concerned about economy of space and weight. Even though I have some hard cases, I still rely on duffel or gym bags to shove between them or take advantage of oddly shaped areas. I only use hard cases for stuff that is heavy enough...

Fridge Setups .. Batteries and more Q's

My stock battery crapped out after a couple weekends of not starting the Jeep and having the fridge hard wired to the battery. The final weekend was what I would consider extreme duty (97*F day/80*night) and I had to watch my battery like a hawk. I ended up having to run my engine a couple...

list your $2.49 mods! Yup…. you can only post/list mods that cost you less than $2.49

A gallon of gas a week ago? In all seriousness, I don't think I've had any mods except for deletions that meet this threshold yet. Under $50 and still shadetree would be a huge list.

    2012 Wrangler cylinder head failure

I have this problem as well. I've just sorta lived with this issue since I'd rather be driving it than making payments on a rig sitting at the dealership while they pretend to troubleshoot it (been there, done that but didn't get the t-shirt). If it goes in for something major, then I will...
