Also, side note... The AEV kit provides right at 9 Inches of shock throw on all 4 corners. THE Thuren coils and hence shocks provide app. 10 inches in the front and 12.5 in the rear (thats what I was told).
P.s. the AEV rear upper coil spacers are held in with 2 bolts.... (total pain to...
It is about 1 inch above full drop.
I think you may be correct, 1/2 inch lift coils may be fine, perhaps a slight distortion / bow, but the factory coils are going to bow a little when I put the tires and wheels on tomorrow and set her on her own weight. I am a little hesitant to pull the...
Ok, soooooo ..... The AEV front lower coil brackets / spacers. Armed with an electronic angle finder it seems as though the AEV spacer eliminates about half of the angles that the factory lower coil mount produces...
i.e. the factory coil mount is angled about 15 degrees forward and 9...
I will measure the AEV lower coil mount / spacer this afternoon. But, with the naked eye they look like they mimic the factory mounting surface. When I spoke to AEV they said their lower mount / spacer corrects the factory design, however, it sure looks like the coil is going to sit at the...
I was told to take the flooring (high / wrong or indifferent)
Weight on each tire from the truck
Load capacity of each tire at max PSI
Divide the max load of each tire by the actual load on the tire
Take that percentage and apply the to the max psi
(i.e. if the max load is 7000 lb max psi...
I absolutely agree. I would not be apposed to having custom coils built to Thuren specs but with the lower profile of the stock coil for mounting purposes... Now, to somehow acquire such said specifications.... lololol
In a way it sucks, the only parts I really need from the AEV kit are a...
Im just gonna call Thuren, tell them what I have and let them use their best judgment. Although, I see that CJC offload has a decent deal on Kings for the RAM 2500 as well.
Workin on the front flares... I would deff. say that these flares are not something you can return from, you have to cut a lot of sheet metal to get them to fit... OUCH... lol
I am just going to bite the bullet and run King's. A member made a good point about Digressive / Progressive / Linear shock valving (of which I knew nothing and was completely ignorant) on another thread. Sooooo, I did quite a bit of reading and I think I will be a lot happier just spending...
Yup. I am. I'll have the factory flares and a set of the factory bilstien shocks that come with the Offload package as well as the AEV Bilstien 5100s to sell as well.
Some misc. pics of the process. No question, these flares are very strong, not some simple little overlay that is held on with some sheetmetal screws and 3M tape... If you are not ready and willing to spend a lot of time installing these things, stick with 37s. I think I told my friend today...
Well, today was the first of what Im sure will be a 2 day and probably 20 hour endeavor to install AEV Highmark fender flares on the truck. I left the house this morning at 0700 and headed for the shop were I could work on it out of the weather and in a nice warm environment.
It snowed...
