Wouldn't it be better to try to figure out why the engine bay gets hot in the first place? I agree with the safety issue and that you might have some insurance issues with an accident. When the rig was stock I am sure there were no heating issues, so why are there some now? What mods have made...
As stated (you might want reread the post) "...I have heard about additives like Water Wetting, which with personal experience and testing, do nothing to control heating problems. Sounds kinda the same as you said, no?
Given your more complete description of the issue, perhaps your grill is blocked somewhat by lights, winch etc. and restricting the air flow through your engine bay.
I would suggest rather than finding ways to cool your rig, you might try to find out why it gets hot. This is a very critical issue and should not be taken lightly (not that you are):
Check the rad out at a specific rad shop who will do a test/check-up more than likely for free.
Check out your...
I thought the same as when we spoke to ARBUSA they said these rails got dented, scratched and sometimes bent up too much to resell and hence the lack of interest. However and having said that we recently found this http://www.trdparts4u.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=-6319
Still, Trail...
Enjoyed the episode, especially the photography.
A bit dramatic (hence the series title) which made it sound like death was around each corner at times and that off roading is a dangerous sport and we that do it, must be nuts!
Great write up with good pics and videos, very thorough! Thank you!
Have you considered a Helton Hot Water System. I got one of these about 2 years ago and what I like about it is, the engine heats up water so no extra fuel to mess with (I don't like to carry fuels inside my rig as I sleep...
Might be interested if there is a 24V option as on the labelling and how it might apply to my PZJ77 or other members 24V rigs. I like the easy on the eyes look of it and the sealing for water/dust proofing.
In other words: I need more detailed info! Can't wait 'til you have it up on your site...
No bashing intended, sorry, simply an observation and one that many make. If Toyota wan't so wrongly in the lime light this might be a totally different case. I agree with you, but unfortunately it is true!
I guess one shouldn't be so honest and forthcoming in the future!
LR swere great back in the days of real adventure and exploring on the dark continent. Since then they have focused on a higher end market and as such lost a lot of quality.
BTW Scott: after 20 years old, many kms and my...
Congrats on your new rig. When you buy a land rover, you have to learn how to be a mechanic or pay for it. When you buy a Land Cruiser, you just plain have a lot of fun!
As Targa88 says, I too have had one a bit longer than he and it works great. There are numerous threads on this forum about it. Very versatile little cooker for under $100.
Pros:
readily combustible fuel to lug around
cooks BBQ style quite quickly and easily
quiet
relatively compact at...
Nice post, Terry! but as the guy says you have way too much time on your hands. Nice bit of work though and you obviously know your stuff. Hope our trails cross again in the near future. Hi to the HB as well.
Tom, suggest you might chat with your local Nissan stealer where you bought it and get to talk to the shop foreman. I am sure he will have the answers as to the most common problems affecting your model and suggest some spares and how to R/R them.
There are some Nissan forums you could Google...
A lot to spend for photo storage! Now if you are in the business then that's another thing. A WD 2TB drive is only $200 or so. I copy all photos to DVDs for long term storage and show/tells on TVs.
