I have not had any customers mount a Shadow Awn to the K9, but out flat rack mounts could possibly work.

You would want to consider an XXL model tent for your son. With a custom spec Front Runner rack on the 5th Gen 4Runner it is possible to fit the tent and an awning, I will see if I can dig up some pics.

For ease of use, coverage and materials the Alu-Cab Shadow Awn is tough to beat. Plus aluminized fabric reflects heat and the rear tailgate coverage spans 90* from the vehicle! :Wow1:

Sounds like an awesome trip and glad the tent kept you high and dry! The doors took myself too some time to understand, the reasoning behind the design per Alu-Cab is to allow adjustable privacy and ease of entry. Think of entering a rounded bottom doorway or sitting off the side removing boots...

Honestly after using both awnings in foul weather, the down spout does very little to control the water coming down and the water coming down the sides of the vehicle seem to be more of a nuisance. We do have a gutter system in prototype that connects to your awning and covers the rear gate area...

Check out Goose Gear in Westminster, he actually has a few canopies coming on this incoming container. The silver option is a painted finish, they are not available raw. All canopies coming for stock are ordered in textured black, but silver is available for special order.

haha no doubt! They are super handy hiding my 5lb tank when going through the tunnels :) I've never actually tried all the covers during the day, but I would assume you will get a little light between the panel and window edges.

If you are thinking on pulling the trigger on the Shadow Awning and having it sent to Gamiviti for development and shipped to you with your rack, I will work with you on a deal for your trouble. :ylsmoke:

James Baroud has an Isothermic kit for the Jeep JK that covers every window and has a reflective side to keep heat in our out. It attaches with suction cups and is reversible, top notch James Baroud quality as well! :)

Yikes, how tall is the Baja Rack off the OEM roof on that truck?

They are still in design in Cape Town, we expect to have them here in approximately May. Your setup did turn out awesome BTW.
