1999-2004 Grand Cherokee WJ - 4.7L Engine Help Needed

Yes, originally the issue was with the broken rocker arm and stuck lifter on #7. We did not remove the fuel rail. I don't smell any gas when trying to start it, not sure about hearing anything. I may not know what to listen for. I will look for that Schrader valve. I am not familiar with...

1999-2004 Grand Cherokee WJ - 4.7L Engine Help Needed

    1. Yes 2. Slipped it under the cam and popped it into place. No need to remove the cam. We did rotate the engine through one full cam revolution to ensure the cam lobe engages the rocker arm properly. We did this by hand by turning the bolt holding the timing chain pulley in place. 3...

1999-2004 Grand Cherokee WJ - 4.7L Engine Help Needed

Well, rocker arm and new valve lifter/lash adjuster installed. Put everything back together, and now it won't run at all! So weird. Sounds like its not getting gas, or air, or spark. I have no idea really. But it's not starting. So frustrating. Went from running (poorly) to not running at...

1999-2004 Grand Cherokee WJ - 4.7L Engine Help Needed

Thanks for your response. We tried all the swapping of coil packs and spark plugs and wires, with no success. So we pulled the valve cover and sure enough the rocker arm for Cylinder #7 was missing. It was actually broken into two different pieces distributed throughout the upper valve guide...

SSF556 Build Up - 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee CRD

I'm a newbie to WK's. If you have the QuadraDriveII system, why did you need to add an ARB locker to the rear diff? I thought the QD2 system was lockers front and rear?

1999-2004 Grand Cherokee WJ - 4.7L Engine Help Needed

My son's 2002 WJ has 200,000 miles on, with a freshly rebuilt motor. We bought it a few months ago, and didn't rebuild the motor ourselves, so we aren't sure how complete a rebuild it was, I suspect not very, because in the past few months we've had to replace all the major sensors, including...

    Tires

The Falkiens are a good tire. Remarkable well behaved on road, and they get the job done off road. I rented a Jeep from Barlow's and that's what they used, and I was really impressed. I had BFG KM2's on my Jeep, (and also my Montero) so I had a good baseline to compare too.

    03-06 Montero or 06-09 forester

Wow, two very different rides. I wonder about parts availability of the Suby? The Monty should have parts under the Pajero name. Also, I suspect the Monty would be way more capable on deeply rutted roads, deep dust, or deep mud.

    I want an LR4 and I have a question

Sigh...refer to the post above were the owners of the LR4's didn't even know. Welcome to the new face of Land Rover. I remember being in a focus group a few years ago and one of the questions asked is if a two wheel drive vehicle was still a Land Rover, and the 10 or so of us in the room burst...

    Tires

Jeep-N-Montero is correct. I also agree with everything the other guy said, except about KO2's, which are a new design, with modern silicone based compounds. However, the STMaxx's are quite good too, though possibly more agressive than what you are looking for. Think about the Falkien AT's...

Official Test Results: Five Ways to Heat a Tent

I use one of these. Not wild about the potential of catching the tent on fire, but it heats up the tent very quickly and effectively, allow us to shut it down while we are still awake. Holds one green gas canister in the base:

What do you consider to be the best cookware kit?

Well, bringing back this thread from the dead, I actually found and bought one of those amazing Tefal Bivoack cook sets a while back..... and now 9 years later I'm looking for a replacement pan after my teenager thought aluminum pans would great over a direct flame....and melted the pan. It...

    Family vehicle Toyota vs Jeep

Ha! Don't forget the dog! Also, any packing I do, I am extremely careful in my packing to noise isolate everything so there are no rattles. I loath rattles on any trip, let alone long distance rattles. My wife gathers the gear and preps the food. I load the vehicle. I kinda Zen out about it :-)
