Where to buy bushings for M416

The Military wrap/pivot end of the spring takes the brass bushing. I just replaced mine. It actually went easier than I thought it would. You can use a long socket with an OD of a little less than 3/4" and pound them out. I used a piece of 3/4" DOM I lathed down.020"

    M416: conversion to toyota wheels

The normal M416 has a different axle and drum set up than a M416A1 so a simple axle drum replacement may not be possible. For the M416A1 I should have said "3500 lb 10 inch trailer drum". Something like this but with the toyota studs you need...

    M416: conversion to toyota wheels

I just barely did this. I messed up and ordered a pair of adapters and didn't catch that they came with 14mm studs. 80series Land cruisers take a 12mm.After emailing back and forth with the supplier they said they don't make one with 6x6.5 12 mm and they claimed you could not swap out the...

M416 Aluminum 30 lb Lid build

Looks good. I did the same thing with 3 x 1 1/2" aluminum tube...But I butted the tube instead of mitering it. I had a sheet of .25" thick ABS sheet kicking around so I skinned the top with that.

    Utah M416a1 trailer slow build

I purchased a set of aluminum adapters to go from the 5x5.5 to my 80 series' 6 x 5.5" rims. The plan is to run a Pair of 255/85/16 tires I have kicking around. Becuase my trailer is a m416A1 it already has the 10" drummed 3500lb axle under it. I could have switched our just the drum to the...

M 416 spring over parking brake repair

Mike, What did you do to relocate the Cable Sheath tie downs on on the frame? I noticed after spinning my axle on it's wheels and then rotating the axle 180 so the brakes are now on top, that the little cable sheath tie down in an inch or two further back.

    Utah M416a1 trailer slow build

I spun the axle around 180 degrees on the tires and then rotated the axle 180 so that the brake cables are on top and pointed to the front. I slipped the old pins back in and lowered it down tonight. It looks lile I'll have to make some sort of adapter to hold the cable sheath in place.

    M416A1 Trailer Build

Yeah, I ditched the Surge brake since it was going to require so much money to rebuild. It had already been hacked anyway. I'm trying to clean some 285/75/16 tires that match my 80 series land cruiser. I flipped the axle tonight an will try it out. The nice thing is that it took 30 minutes...

Thanks Jared. I ordered the Bushings tonight. I also threw in a new set of spring eye bolts as the old ones were obviously worn.

    M416A1 Trailer Build

Thanks Pat. My top only has two hinges very similar to yours. I think I really need to add a third in there. It sounds like your Struts are a lighter version just to lift the lid. With the roof top tent on mine I probably have a 100lbs more. Thanks for the info.

    Utah M416a1 trailer slow build

I'm embarrassed by hinges and a couple other things on my lid so I'll delay posting pictures for a few days. Turns out I missed installing several bolts so hopefully that's my problem. I did jack the trailer up and removed the front spring pins to begin the spring over. I had purchased some...

    Utah M416a1 trailer slow build

Thanks Don. I'll try to take some pictures tonight or tomorrow and post them up. I mounted the shock in the center of the lid and then mounted the other end 6" down form the lip and towards the non hinged side of the trailer. I used two 6" hinges instead of a full length hinge. I also kept...

    M416A1 Trailer Build

67Tank, I just installed a lid on my 416 and used a gas strut layout very similar to yours. What lbs gas strut did you use? I purchased a pair of 150lb and installed one yesterday. The force when the lid was closed was pushing the lid over by 3/4" towards the hinge. I'm thinking I've...

    Jet Boil meals

I have 4 jetboils and Brunton jetboil knockoff. There's one in each of my families 72 hour kits. I've got he regular cups, the Sumo cup and the 1.5L cooking pot. Like has been said, I only use mine for boiling water. I've tried cooking chili or eggs or even meat in the different attachments...

Did anyone use this before Goal Zero discontinued it?

I work across the street form Goal Zero headquarters and actually walked over there today to pick up a Guardian change controller they found for me. They still have a couple of the boulder 15 kits kicking around in their store. I haven't plugged the controller in yet but they discontinued...

    Okay let's see everyones camp/ 4wd kitchens!!

I just took my shelves out but I'm sure the wife will want them put back in. The shelves were heavy. I did just pick up a dozen of these at Hill Airforce Base. Sold 6-7 to friends already. They are big and have the divider in them so you can load both sides. In the end they are 1/2" too...
