I have a couple of these. They weigh 60lbs with the shelves in. I have not taken out the shelves as they were one of the benefits of the kit. It looks like there is a thick piece of aluminum between the outside shell and the shelves? How did you get the wieght down to 15 lbs?
We have a Canon 5D Mark III at work and it is certainly a nice camera. I'm not sure I can swing that much cash right now. What would Canon's equivalent to the D7100 be? Am I wrong in the observation that Canon's comparable lenses seem to be less expensive than the Nikon Versions?
Thanks everybody. I put devcon in each thread hold and tightened everything down. It seems tight and the photos look fine. I'm really worried about putting a heavy lens on it and walking around. I may just through a 18-55 kit lens on it and let my 12yr old use it for school and outings. I'm...
I thought about that Loctite product or Devcon Plastic Welder. We use a lot of it at work to bond several types of plastic. I took a couple pictures tonight and they turned out fine with a 50mm lens. I'm assuming that at 200mm zoom any alignment issues would be exaggerated so I may try that...
last night I went to grab my NikonD90 off the high shelf on my computer desk and found this.
My CSI and interrogation skills quickly broke one of the possible culprits, a 9 year old, who ratted out his 2 yr old brother for having climbed up there and tossed a ton of stuff off. The two year...
Tried this tonight. Thanks for the recipe. The cinnamon and Cumin were good together. I had to make my Pico de Gallo with Roma tomato's since that was all they had at the grocery store yesterday. What I would have given for a vine ripened tomato. Over all very tasty.
I've had one of these for about 4 years now. Light My Fire carries them. The fire bowl is pretty flimsy and only worthy of a few pieces of charcoal or it weakens the hinge points. The grill is great. Don't use it over any flames and try to keep the coals pretty low by the feat. I've warped...
NW and LC. Thanks a ton for your comments. Very helpful. To be honest I spaced checking my ISO and had it set for some shots a did the week before. I need to pay attention to all my settings.
I'll head back up the next chance I get and play with the aperture as you have suggested. That...
We had a good rain storm Sunday afternoon so I took the family up the hill to see if I could catch a few crisp clear pictures of Timp. The rain had come and gone and there were still nice low lying clouds hanging around. There seemed to be a lot of that humid Haze as well so I was a little...
Call Mike at Kodiak Tents. He often has show demo or scratch and dents for sale for a couple hundred off. I think I paid $400 for a 10x14 a few years ago. They are out of Utah so shipping is an unknown.
Adam, Those are sweet fenders and I happen to have a bunch of 1 1/4" DOM sitting in the garage. Those are some old pictures you have kicking around.
Right now the plan is to keep the tub intact and not cut a tailgate. Being genetically challenged in the height arena I'll need to the total...
Looking closely at the springs and C-shackles, the springs practically rub the shackle mounts. I'm wondering if a 2" Shackle lift would be enough to clear the 255/85/16" tires I have to throw on it. I run 285/75/16" on the cruiser but have sound the 255 to be close enough to use for a spare...
I'm pulling with a 1997 FJ80 Land Cruiser. She's a heavy beast so controlling the trailer should not be too much of an issue. I pull a lot heavier without surge brakes.
Stephen-Fortunately I have access to a cnc mill that will make quick work of adapters. Unfortunately going from the stock m416 bolt pattern to the Toyota 6 lug isn't as easy. The adapters out there are all two plate for a reason.
I found mention on a site that the m416a1 uses different...
Thanks Adam. I'll have to measure things a little more and let you know. I really want to keep the stock axle so the hand brake works. Tonight I did a quick measurement and am thinking by the time I use an adapter to go from 5 lugs to 6 for the landcruiser, the lc rim backspacing, the 285's are...
Thanks you guys. The original tongue has been removed and the 2" ball welded on so your probably right in it not being worth much.
I love taking the wife and my 4 kids camping because I usually get to buy new equipment after the trip. I've got one of the original "Car Top Tents" Mombasa...
These darn trailers seem to be getting rarer than hens teeth but perseverance pays off. I ended up picking up a local M416a1 this last week for a sweet price. Other than a little surface rust and some desperate need for a little PM, she is in great shape. I didn't need any project right now...
