    Toy-Cra-Ze's 87' xtra cab build

No worries mate, sub. well deserved aye!!! Like I said I love seeing these older trucks getting the love they deserve, and I have always loved those Xtra Cabs that extra little bit as well. Your truck looks perfect on the 33x10.50's BTW... I think they're the perfect tire size for "non...

    Toy-Cra-Ze's 87' xtra cab build

Good lookin old truck... IMO those are the BEST looking body's Toyota ever made, and while I'm really excited to get my 95 build on the road, I'm gonna miss looking out over that angular, lovely looking hood... Builds coming along nicely aye. Good call swapping to the 33x10.50 KM2's, but if...

Awesome nostalgia in that link... I remember seeing that article back then and thinking "THIS, is exactly what I'd do with a Series LR, what a great idea!!!" and I've been a fan of this truck ever since. Great to have you and your very "special" truck here with us on the Portal, this community...

Petition to change 25yr import rules

Signed. I'm fully with you and everyone else on getting this antiquated BS "law" (or Regulation) disposed of, but sadly I just don't see it happening... Still, what are we to do, NOT fight it??? That seems awfully boring and defeatist in nature... Good on ya for starting the petition (even if...

Looking at Discovery 2's...what should I be prepared for??

I answered my own question??? I wasn't asking a question of you (and I dare say I won't ever make that mistake), I was asking it of the OP as to what specifically makes him want the DII over another chassis/vehicle. I can fully understand the "I just like them" answer if that's the case, but I...

Trooper vs 4runner for a budget minded build? whats your thoughts?

Whatever you decide, stay away from the GM 2.8L V6... possibly one of the worst engines ever made (maybe even THE worst) anywhere in the world. We had a 91 Trooper and while we LOVED the truck, the seating position, interior and the cargo capacity etc. the engine was a complete dud. The power...

!!!!!I LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!! I too remember reading about it in several magazines over the years (mentioned in Petersens and I thought had a full write-up elsewhere???) and have always thought it was beyond cool. I also love all the neat little things you did to make it all work and I can...

    Wavephf's American Hilux build thread

Wow, that is one awesome build!!! Congrats on a job well done. If you go to an SAS there are a couple options for widening the track including using the IFS trucks current hubs and outer axle bits/brakes to widen it and keep the larger IFS 4Runner/V6 brakes. There is some turning and...

    Rescue Runner build

Looking awesome mate... Love those Hood Louvers!!! I've been thinking of doing that on the exhaust manifold side of the new truck as well. I think you've sold me on it cause I not only like how it looks, but I know how well they help keep the under-hood/heat-soak down in the right conditions...

While I thought it looked awesome before (I've been enjoying this build since you first posted it), and maybe from a pure aesthetics point I liked the first treatment with the Rhino-Liner, I still think the new job looks GREAT. I personally would have done the handles/gas flap, but that's down...

Prepping a camel trophy defender 110 for around the world...

Interesting (and very cool)... What engine is that (series etc.), and what's it from originally??? I'm not a deeply knowledgeable Rover guy by any means, but I've never heard of a Mazda TDi engine (other then their new "Sky-active Low-Comp." Diesels) and I've never heard of one mated to an R380...

    1st Generation Toyota 4Runner's.....

Aw ya bloody cheat!!!! HAHAHAHA :sombrero: . I didn't notice you were in NZ aye... that makes these trucks you've got slightly more "explainable" for a guy in the US starved of all things Toyota Diesel (but no less awesome). And the 85 is dam near a unicorn in my world (although sounds like it...

    Need help with a cruiser

That... You have an 80-series Chassis frame and axles etc. which are NOT worthless if you can and like to build things. Drop a 12HT or something in it or build an HDJ80 out of it, who knows, but I wouldn't chuck it in the bin. Re-build the interior dash and run it as a trail rig or a DD...

Yeah man CONGRATS... That was awesome to go to the Home Page and see your build/article. Very nicely done (reads well and it's awesome to have your build "condensed" so you really get to see the truck as she sits now after all your hard work) and congrats on an article/feature well deserved...

Best 32 in tire for snow, ride, and MPG

If you're even for a second considering the Dura-Tracs then, may I suggest the Maxxis Bighorn MT's as well... Longer lasting (harder compound which will negate a bit of the snow grip compared to the Dura-Tracs possibly), very tough tyre with great grip and a lot of siping potential plus factory...
