    Water separator question

I don't see why they wouldn't work, unless there's an electrical connection to the OEM water separator. On later models, the water separator includes a water presence sensor and fuel temperature sensor.

    Help finding insurance

These trucks have a GVWR of 14050 lbs and are considered commercial. Sourcing insurance coverage can be problematic. Underwriters also have difficulty assigning values to DIY conversions. If the build isn’t completed, try sourcing insurance coverage for what the truck currently is, not for what...

New FG Owner with Newbie Questions

Welcome. You are indeed correct, the cruise control can’t be used when the exhaust brake is engaged. Having a Duonic transmission, the transmission will only downshift one gear when the cruise control is on. If it needs to downshift another gear, the cruise control will disengage. First time...

    Newbie with Fuso FG

No, but your dealer would know for sure. Its my understanding that dealers don't repair the Duonic transmissions, they swap them out. Ask your dealer to see what they say. There's a BIG emission recall working its way though dealers on the 2012/2013 trucks now. If I recalled correctly, at one...

    Neat FUSO headed to BAJA!

Have a good trip. Looks like you're in the area of the Mainland where you're required to have a Temporary Import Permit for the vehicle. Can't tell if the sticker on the windshield is the TIP sticker or not. With the Fuso having a GVWR of 14,050lbs, did you have difficulty obtaining one?

    Flat Deck Design Considerations

I like MORRyde's Step Above step design. With any steps that touch the ground, there's always the possibility of driving away without storing them. One tends to only do that once.

Newer FUSO FG's - driven at altitude

Pete Some terminology, Mitsubishi refers to the Diesel Particulate Filter as DPF, and Diesel Exhaust Fluid as DEF. At higher altitudes it’s possible that a DPF regeneration cycle will timeout and not complete due to insufficient air to complete the burn cycle. The FG has a manual DPF...

    Mexico insurance

If your in country travel window is short, you can always fly back down and drive the vehicle back after repairs have been made.

    Mexico insurance

If I remember correctly, the GVWR on the Fuso is over 14,000lbs. Have you source your TIP yet? Or are you confining your travel plans to just Baja and not the Mainland? Some policies will pay for the repairs back in the states at US labor rates. Otherwise the repairs will have to be done in...

Ultra low sulfur diesel in other countries, experiences or modifications way to get around it.

What you’re referring too is called a Diesel Particulate Filter. It’s not the clogging by sulfur in the DPF that you need to worry about, but the ash built up from burning additives added to the fuel and from not using low ash engine oil. Check the owners manual, there’s a limit on the grade of...

Ultra low sulfur diesel in other countries, experiences or modifications way to get around it.

Come on down. After December of 2018 ULSD will be plentiful in Mexico. Its now available in the major traffic corridors. Sadly station signage will probably never show it, even when ULSD is available country wide. The Geritol crowd have been running later model diesels in and around Mexico...

modern diesel for overlanding in developing countries - post your solutions

You’ll need to do your homework regarding the hardware. Often DPF’s serve as the muffler, simply replacing it with a straight pipe won’t work.

2012 GLOBAL EXPEDITION VEHICLES (GXV) Safari Extreme - SOLD

Good looking rig. Is the build titled as an RV? Does the build have an RVIA certification? Did you have any problems sourcing insurance coverage on a custom build?

    Campfire container for restricted areas

The clean out of the ash. Even with the bag, it was a filthy peice of kit. Wouldn’t purchase it again.

    Campfire container for restricted areas

I absolutely hated mine, it was the filthiest piece of kit I ever camped with. I trashed mine at a metal recycler.
