I own the Engel 65 and it has worked out alright. Paul from Engel told me that they actually had a law suit against Yeti because they had basically copied the Engel. They didn't end up winning, but setting the two side by side there are few differences. I bought mine at the OR show in Salt...
Very cool. i will do this with one of my lids. What glue did you use? I work with adhesives and it is very difficult to get anything to stick long term to HDPE. Could you attach it to the lid with gaskets?
I wounder if LCI would sell jst the lids. Then you could store the faucet for...
I've tasted thier stuff at the OR show in January. The sports drink flavor wasn't the worst I had tasted. I didn't have much time to talk to them, but it was interesting stuff. I'm always a little behind the curve on water purifying technology. I use an MSR, but mainly use it in western...
I agree with Jim.
That said, I have been less worried about people in my travels than I was about wildlife. We carry on our 10 day float trips in Western Alaska. Several Shot guns packed with slugs, various other large cal pistols and such. We have spooked large bear while fishing and been...
The Volcano/Kelly kettle/ Thermettes are very cool. They quicker than this at heating water. The flame shoots up through the center of the kettle and allows you to feed the fire from the top. This is similar but comes in severl different pieces and you have to feed the fire from the bottom. I...
I can't remember if I posted about this stove. I picked it up at a Military surplus store a 4 months ago. After having to come home early from a trip to the San Rafael swell this weekend I decided I'd test the stove in the back yard. I believe it is a surplus stove from Europe somewhere and...
That is a nice clean trailer. After this weekends trip to the San rafeal swell, I might be able to talk the wife into. Do you have a pic of the tail gate?
I have several types of fuel cans including the mentioned $5-10 blitz cans. If your looking at putting 5 gallons in your garage then buy your blitz cans. I have 4, 2 with gas, 1 with deisel and one with kerosine. I won't carry them on my vehicle. I have seen to many bloat and leak in the...
I'll post updated pics this weekend. i'm adding the tie downs and a few other items.
I use a JD2 model 3 style bender. I say style because I cnc'd the bender myself. The die is a 3/4" jd2 die with a 3" radius.
I think the most important thing is that you carry one. 5 years ago I was 3 cars back from a stop light when it turned green. The Datsun truck in fron didn't move and the guy infront of me went around it. I noticed smoke coming from the front of the truck. Some guy (turned out to be the...
So I bought materials and a 3/4" die for my bender for this almost two years ago. With an upcoming trip to the San Rafael Swell in a few weeks I thought I should knock this out. The idea was to hold two MWC's (ignore the fuel can in the photo, it won't be going inside the vehicle) and my cooler...
I've seen this rig several times and know the owner of Ogio. Other than that I don't know anything about it. Looks like fun if your into that sort of rig

I had issues with my SPOT in a canyon a month ago. I had the spot on the outside of my pack while snowshoeing up with the kids. The next week I was at the OR show and talked with the SPOT guys for a while. They have a couple more robust clips available that might even be usable in your...
For the water cans you can get them for $16 including shipping from buylci.com. Find them in thier Tactical section. They come in tan or green. They do have "property of the US government on side".
I've dealt with Powerfilm and have had good results. Not cheap by any means, but a very good product. I was told by one of the Powerfilm reps that they produce the Brunton solar panels.
I will be using a 10w system in Alaska this July for two weeks in the bush. I don't expect to have any...
For a portabe, light weight tri-pod I love my Gorillapod. I actually use the SLR version on my point and shoot. I have the smaller one, but my Panasonic TZ3 is just a little too heavy for it. Plus it give you extra hieght and the ability to wrap around larger objects.
