    Expedition Shovels

I also carry the Gerber. Bought it for $12 at an army surplus store in Idaho. I carry it all the time, but when I go out for a wheeling trip I throw in a cutt off landscaping shovel. The Highlift handle fits over the top of the cut off handle and I drilled and secure two pins in it to hold it...

    charcoal brick

I was a little dissapointed as the 123 miracle blaze product was introduced to me as brand new to the US market. Then I found the Johnson and Lou product already being sold. I was hoping to have stumbled accross a new way to make a living. My job sucks right now, but at least I'm employed...

    charcoal brick

Has anyone used these? http://www.johnsonandlou.com/index.html I met a guy at the Outdoor Retailers show who was looking for distributors. His product was the same as the J&L with a different name. It looked interesting for car camping and emergency cooking.

Opinions on a 97 I am looking at.

I wouldn't worry too much about the leather as you can get new leather from a guy on IH8mud for like $500 for the front two seats. People have liked the new leather alot. I bought my 97 sage 40th with 140k miles and lockers 20months ago for $10,000. Your deal doesn't sound too bad with the...

    best 4x4

I'm sure the H1 would be on my list too, right above Honda Civic.:sombrero: I've owned Ford, Jeep, Chevy, Nissan(Datsun) and Toyota. I've always thought a Dseries rover might be fun to play with, but too many of my friends have turned thier leased Rovers in early just to get out from under...

    Trailers, RTT and Bears

We run into a lot of bears in Alaska where we go every year. We self guide a float trip down a river that maybe gets 3 groups a year on it. You see BIG bears every few miles for the 70 mile float. Most mornings there is bear scat and prints somewhere in you camp. NOt a truly warm fuzzy...

Jet Boil mug w/ camo cozy < $5

I dug deep in their site and found mention of anodized aluminum transfering heat better than other metals, so i assume that is what they used. Now I just need to practice or talk a co-worker into welding that thin aluminum.

    Spot Tracking

Tuscon, Thanks for the reply. We went in and changed his help message and email list. Since the messages are dropped after 7 days, is there a way to save all the information in a seperate location so that it can be reviewed for later trips? I have looked through the website and found very...

    80 series dual battery question

"Charge regulators, whether internal or external, vary the excitation voltage of the alternator's field to control voltage output. There can only be one of that style of regulator per alternator." Didn't think about that..Its why I ask the dumb questions. Besides being a KISS person, I'm also...

    80 series dual battery question

Couldn't you buy an external voltage regulator and put it after the relay? I know on my fj40 the original electrical system had an external regulator that was fairly cheap. This should regulate the second battery just as your altenator regulated the first.

    80 series dual battery question

Being a newby on the dual battery systems, I guess my question is this: Are all the expensive monitors.... worth the extra expense? I realize there is peace of mind knowing that the lights are on and at any moment you know the status of both batteries. Besides some little lights and an alarm...

    Odd auto insurance experience

Funny thread. I've dealt with the same agent for the last 17 years at ALLSTATE and have never had any issue with them at all. I can call and the receptionist recognizes my name and asked me specifics about my family members. My agent talks cruisers even though he has never owned one. My 40...

    Is the Galaxy Gone ??

I just talked to them at the summer Outdoor Retailers show. It didn't sound like it was going too well for them. They had changed thier name from IceeCool to Galaxy or something. I went to the show to purchase a cooler from him and didn't see IceeCool on the vender list. I ended up buying...
