Best thing I did for my old FJ80, (same drivetrain), was remove the roofrack, keep the tires to 31s and slow down. In Mexico I could get 15-16 mpg loaded; as the top speeds were kept to about 55 mph and under.

It's likely a JDM (Japanes Domestic Market) import if it's RHD. IIRC only 1985 model years (approx. 250 units 12 volt) and 1986 (approx. 300 units, 24 volt) were imported by Toyota into Canada as North American Spec. models. I'm not sure about the DOT specs for importing a JDM BJ70, but the...

No magical fix...but you'll be very pleased with the Spidertrax spacers...they're so pretty it's almost a shame putting a tire over 'em! -H-

You have a couple of choices. You can either get a nice set of spacers (Spidertrax.com) and bolt those to the existing lug bolts, then put on the tires, or remove and replace the old studs with longer ones. Ok, I just read the post again...I would suggest buying one (1) spidertrax spacer for...
