I think your gut reaction is accurate. That winch/bumper combo is jury rigged to say the least, and the shifting is a concern. Maybe good at $1500 or lower, but you're likely going to need to put at least $1000 into it to do some basic maintenance. -H-

I concur...sounds electrical to me. I'm willing to bet you've got a bad battery cable. "Engine binding" sounds like total fantasy diagnosis.... -H-
