They really are great little trucks. If those are indeed lockers this truck will be able to go most places. I am constantly surprised what my little reg cab five speed is able to do. Lock it in low point and go. I have looked at flippacks so many times but at such a high price point it is a pill...
ahh one of the few build reg cabs out there.
I admit I am biased towards these trucks
Looks like lots of good stuff. I might be going blight but looked like front and rear lockers as well as dual winchs
good stuff.
do your self a favor buy a stihl and dont look back.
sure the sticker shock can be bit high but you will more then save that money over the problem free years of use.
I have a 2012 rc 5 speed 2.7. It is a great little truck I drive extensively for work all over the rocky mountain area the ONLY time I wish I had the v6 is going up the long pass from WY to Denver with a head wind coming at me.
Other then that the tryuck holds 75-80 on the highway just fine...
Thanks for the note.
Sadly McCall is out of the wife and I's price range to buy as well. We currently have a great deal on what we rent but long for acres to homestead as well. Before McCall we were in Sandpoint but the Job market just was not there for the type of work that we were doing at...
I run a heavy duty set of V bar chains on the rear of my tacoma. Never been down a road that I needed them on. Only busted them out for off pavement travel.
Then again I live in the mountains of Idaho where they just assume that you know how to drive in the snow and wouldn't dare require chains...
Black Diamond Mega mid.
Can stuff four people in to it in a pinch
has no floor but you can buy a bug screen floor insert.
Tall enough to sort of stand up in and you can set up in many ways. I have even strung a line between two trees and hun it from that since it is the shape of a pyramid.
I...
Yep....
It works just like Big oil
and other massive companies in this country.
I don't think it really matters what side of the fence you are one you can find an agenda that is getting massive amounts of funding, thus has a lobby, and most likely a tax break/loophole or the attentions of of...
I think that there have been some really good points brought up here. I would like to add one more. Budget.
You can drop a hundred bucks on a pair of keens and get who knows how long out of them....
You can also drop 800 bucks on hand made cutsom fit stuff.
I tend to go for the middle...
The great part about that third party is they can hand you a list of things that may need done, do need to be done etc.
I bought a 95 4runner knowing i was going to need to put some work into it after I got it. That third part check up earned me a 1300 dollar barter chip.
if the dealer does...
Check out the inov8 shoes.
I work in the outdoor education field for NOLS and a lot of my buddies rock very light shoes compared to hiking boots.
No problems. These instructors are sometimes logging 30+ days and hundreds of miles in rough terrrian and sear up and down that the light weight...
The truck is at the point in its life where you are going to need to sink money in to stuff like suspension front end etc. All wear and tear items.
These first gen trucks have the very stout 4.7 The last time I talked to my buddy with one he had over 250 k on and still running strong.
I worked...
Some hipster with cash to burn will buy it for transporting his/ her fleet of fixed gear bikes....
ok kidding If i had nothing but money I would buy it for the cool factor. But damn thats a steep price.
I cary a set of the V bars listed above for my tacoma. They are fantastic. I went with the v bar because it is damn near impossible to chain the front of the newer tacoma. See a few guys running cables and a few with off set wheels that seem to make them work. My truck is stock so that is not an...
welp....
Call me crazy but I ran my skis out side my Subaru for several years from Maine to Utah with no adverse effects using the clamps.
Now they just hang out in back of bed. You might get a bit of surface rust on the edges but its no big deal.
Robert,
That is a valid point. Often times the work is for you, it is for the family, it is for the bystander.
I think that a much better tool to carry would be training. Go get a Wilderness First Responder if you are going to play in the remote parts of the lovely world.
Sure, I am biased...
The problem with carrying one in the back country is what do you do next ?
So you get Return of spontaneous pulse. Now what ?
These people need ACLS ( advanced cardiac life support )
Say you do manage to get a pule back, the next hurdle is trying to avoid neuro deficits. Odds are this person...
Pictures of the inside would be nice! It would go a ways towards swinging people one way or the other because you know there is going to be that person who thinks thats a steep price for a 15 year old camper. Then of course I am sure that there are people like me who are thinking Damn where was...
It really should not be all that big of a deal. Where you can run into problems with the syn bags is the packing and re packing into the small stuff sack.
Take for ex a 0degree Mt Hardware I have. Must have at least 250 nights in the field on it. At this point the comfort rating is closer to 30...
