Heck for the 4 k you might spend on that honda you have a nice BMW650 Great bike.
my 99 f650 classic was dirt simple to work on and got 55-60 mpg had the power to go anywhere read highway speeds if needed and still did decent in the dirt.
the 200 mentioned above is a great bike but I think...
Bringing this back from the dead. Wanted to see if any one has set them self up with some new " Pizza cutters" for this winter and has impressions yet.
I decided to pull another winter out of the Hankooks that I am running now. Been really impressed with this tire other then some weird noise...
heck just google pics of what the sled racers transport their dogs in. Lot of my hunting buddies run a three across the back kennel style system.
Mine rides in the cap int he back of the tacoma. every once an while he rides shot gun ( regular cab) if there is a lot fo stuff in the back he...
Welcome to Idaho.
We run studded tires on the ambulances down in Boise, and those things weigh in at 14k.
Having lived in New england, next to lake erie, the mountains of Utah, and now McCall Idaho ( mountains) I can safely say that out west they just expect you to drive in the snow better...
Think of it this way. 2wd works right up till it dosen't.
Then 4wd become priceless.
Here is one more prospective just because " you can make it" in 2wd does not mean you are not beating the hell out of your truck to do it.
Hell when you drop massive amounts of money on tires why spin them...
I have both a 4 runner and a tacoma. The taco is a 12 reg cab 5 speed 4x4 and the runner is a 95 with the 3.slo and an auto.
The taco is a great truck and I have put 60 k on it since new no real problems a few quirks but then again it came with a payment.
The runner I dropped cash for and have...
Here are a few rules of thumb.
There is no such thing as the perfect kit. Your kit should change based on your trip. How long you are out where you are going who is with you etc.
Never carry anything you Do not know how to use. aka if you see it in an ambulance or ER and your not a doc or a...
I dont know.... at the end of the day you are buying a truck that was used as a work rig aka lots of people drive it and no one treats it like its their baby
you are buying a truck with high miles that is going to need money to make it into what you want you are already going into it thinking...
Welll...
I guess it all comes down to what you want to do and where you want to go.
For an instance My 4 cyl 4x4 reg cab taco could pull that trailer no problem. Would I be winning races? No.
I pulled roughly 3000 lbs from Salt lake city utah to Sandpoint Idaho. Lots of mountains lots of...
It really depends on how much stuff you need to carry and what your taste is. Neither is going to feel like an audi.
The taco drives like.... a truck but you can carry much more stuff
My vote.
Fix it now.
Take it to the stealership and then also get a quote from a good import/ toyota shop.
The latter will almost always be able to beat the former.
If you fix it now its one of those things that you know is done and you wont have to hopefully worry about again.
I can assure you that you will be getting the short end of the the stick on this one.
The dealer is most likely looking to off load a car that they paid very little for and then will turn around and sell your truck for much more then they give you for it.
Then again this is how they make their...
Nother vote for the truck style bed hoist. Folks out here use them to life their decked out sled into the back of their truck all the time. Seen some really solid home made ones using a come a long and decent welding.
It simple, stout and it works. No wiring reauired
Since we are talking about things we would like.....
How about a regular cab a new motor !
I would hand over my wallet for a manual trans, 4x4 regular cab diesel
sadly I know that will never happen.
Why make trucks when they can make things to be driven to pick up the kiddies from soccer ...
As some one who works on an ambulance and has in several states I can drop some info on you.
First stay away from any ambulance with the v10 in it. They are a true gutless wonder with all of the added weight of the ambulance box and wind resistance the MPG are crap.
like 6-7 MPG around town...
check out the NOLS cookery.
Solid simple ideas most of them made from simple ingredients. easily made in the field on small stoves.
Back country bread rolls? I think so.
The exPed is really nice but also expensive its light so thats nice.... so if you want a do it all sort of pad thats the way to go.
For car camping check out a Paco Pad. Google Jack's Plastic Welding and get the real deal you cant kill them and they float! they are pricy but will last a...
Idaho has a lot to offer. If you have time make sure to check out the west central mountains, McCall, the Sawtooths etc. If you don't mind a bit of a drive Sandpoint is more then worth it. The wife and I miss that area but find McCall is just as nice.
I think that it is becoming the norm for people to expect more and more out of their cars. People are holding on to their cars longer then they used to. For one a new 4x4 is so damn expensive these days. Secondly, technology has improved. 100k used to be the big breaking point on a used car it...
