DC Electric Water Heater with Heat Exchanger

Part of the discussion needs to be are you boondocking or are you constantly moving? If you plan to set up out in a single spot for 2 weeks at a time you're going to need serious solar to go full electric. If you plan to move every 2-3 days you'll be able to recharge off your alternator. This...

Build: Ram 3500 and Aluminum/Composite Expedition Camper

What's your plan for heat? Also a skier here and I am in the planning stages for camper build that will get lots of winter weekend ski use. A thought on ski boots...putting them on and taking usually best done seated. Think about making the door on your unbody box that is just in front of the...

    DIY Composite Flatbed Camper Build

More food for thought. Plenty of camper units struggle with condensation, the common cue being dry heat with lots of air exchange. A refrigerator dehumidifier will pull moisture out of the air and provide heat. Damp air feels cooler so drier air would help. Lots of the small portable units are...

    DIY Composite Flatbed Camper Build

Some digging around and it looks like DC variable speed compressors are available that could be used to re-fit a unit. A small camper would only need around 6000 btu unit so one of the portable single room units could also be hacked.

    DIY Composite Flatbed Camper Build

Something like one of these could be set up to heat and cool. https://www.cruisencomfortusa.com/hd-series Actually you could have one of these set up that would heat, cool, heat a small hot water calorifier and dehumidify. Running native on DC will draw much lower power. Here is a marine...

    DIY Composite Flatbed Camper Build

What about a small ductless mini split heat pump? More efficient use of electric. Upside of AC if / when needed and a dehumidifier.

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

Appreciate the reply. We're in Vancouver BC and it's those conditions you had in the Orcas / Bellingham are what I was looking to hear about.

2020 Overland Explorer Vehicles (OEV) CAMP-X pop-up slide-in pickup camper (renamed "Back Country" as of 2023)

And feedback on cold weather / winter camping in one of these yet? Looking damp conditions feedback, think wet coastal just below freezing and snowing that almost rain. How well does the insulated soft sides handle this and any condensation issues?

Build: Ram 3500 and Aluminum/Composite Expedition Camper

I am going to guess that they shingled the two panels. Left the skin long on the top panel then short on the lower panel so that the top panel would lap down over the lower panel and glued in place when installed.

Build: Ram 3500 and Aluminum/Composite Expedition Camper

Like packing your bike into a travel bag for flights. Pull the stem off leaving your bars in the stem. Pull your wheels and pedals. A well thought out drawer with a couple straps that slides into the space will keep everything from rattling around. It sounded to me like this would be the...

Build: Ram 3500 and Aluminum/Composite Expedition Camper

What about raising your dinette / seating area and placing the bikes horizontal under the raised platform. You will end up sitting higher up in the camper so the seated person will be closer to eye level with someone standing in the kitchen, you'll also be able to place your windows up higher...

    Overlanding project lab

There are several companies in France that are using a similar panel construction. Cartech and Trip and Fish are using the ACP panels bonded to an XPS core. Nice to see a NA diy example.

    A new camper from Supertamp

Looking really nice from the teaser shots. Finally some created a composite Alaskan. Digging trough IG comments it will have the ability to run hard panels in the front or fabric. Look forward to seeing the layout and how the panel system works.

Does the 3500 share a similar chassis to the 2500? LandcruiserPhil did some flex on his 2500 to show it's stiffness. https://expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/ramcruiser-the-build.213953/page-3#post-2785852

Has anyone cloned a Drifta style set up?

Search on here, a few years back someone did a pretty detailed build on a Drifta set up in the back of an SUV.

INTRODUCING THE GOAT SHELL!!! A lightweight hard sided popup up camper shell.

You should stop calling those "renderings". See the detail in the truck? That's a rendering. Your camper as shown is a box in Sketch Up.

    RamCruiser...the build

Sorry to hear about the flood hopefully your insurance works out well for you. Look forward to the updates. The FWC are nice and I sorta wish one would work for my planned application, they just aren't well suited to a wet coastal environment and winter use. I'd like to put a composite side...
