Hey guys. Well I'm installing the 3rd (maybe 4th can't even remeber) bonded seal for my rear Arb. I hoping they will just give me a refund for the POS so I can get an elocker but I'm not holding my breath.
I'd like to have some diff carrier shims regardless if I go with a harrop or reinstall...
I don't know, if you can afford to regear, I really like 255s on my Gen 3 with 4.9 gears. I had 31.5 tires before and the added height really helps wheeling, at least for what I've been doing with mine. The departure angle and break over angle increases are very noticeable.
It also looks...
A few thoughts that seem most likely to me if the issue was not present before the build....
1-The rings are the issue. You are adding a variable that cannot be accounted for and it would be easy for a small discrepancy to be present (ie they are not square/round).
2-you have a dragging...
Search the part numbers for 01 and 02 xls models. They all had 4.9s. Any other Monteros, including the 01 and 02 limiteds, all had 4.30s.
Look on eBay. I found mine within a few weeks of looking.
Looks really good!!! Seems about par for the course at most repair places. I’ve resolved myself I will always need to fix something anytime i take a vehicle in. It’s a nice surprise when you don’t, ha.
So your choices are spend a 1000 bucks and a weekend fixing your current ride, or spend 40k on a new truck?
Unless you have 40k burning a hole in your pocket that you have no other use for it, it would seem like a simple choice.
I have a smitty built xl and need a better mattress. Has anyone found a decent self inflating pad that is roughly (92x75in)? I'd like to eliminate the foam pad entirely.
It seems everything is more of a traditional air mattress or the wrong size. Having 2 side by side would work fine as...
Sweet build. I went with Arbs and had an internal air leak right off the bat that needed a new seal. I wish I went with Harrop, although the twin air compressor has been so nice. It has made up for tearing the diff apart twice and so far I have not had any other issues. Lol knock on wood.
I'm close to pulling the trigger on this but need some qualitative info.
Currently I'm running OEM with medium duty up front and light duty out back with air bags. As it sits, I can push the montero pretty damn fast. Some times I wonder if anything will break, but so far it's held up fine...
Interesting find. As our Gen 3 gets more off road focused, it would be nice to have a solid family vehicle at some point. I have several searches set for Gen 3 monteros with under 100k but nothing has popped up for a long time that is not stupid money.
In a few years I may look more at lesser...
