What kind of work does it need?
Like anything, newer will generally be less work, but you pay a price, and new turns old very quick.
I always laugh when people say their car needs $1000 worth of work. So they go out and spend 30k on a new car.
Have you seen a failure?
I have no evidence, but I believe the door its-self will support the weight just fine. I say this because when closed, the door sits inside the frame. So it is supported by the hinges, latches, but also the door frame. That's why I'm looking to hear what kind of...
Hey guys,
On my Gen 3 I'm running 33in tires. I am currently building a custom rear plate bumper and I'm considering running a spare tire swing out vs keeping the tire on the door. If I keep the tire on the door, I will also mount a 5g rotopax fuel tank and a trasharoo bag to the spare tire...
Man I wish we could get 4th Gen monteros in the US. Ive been to mexico/central America a few times and love the newer monteros.
Realistically for the price? Nothing.
I do think the older Zz1 blazers offer a pretty good value for the money but not sure I'd ever get one. Rear locker etc.
If I...
Ehhh. I can be all in with lockers, winch, lifts, etc and even crawler gears for the price of a stock 100 series LC with 50k more miles.
I want a rig that works well and is capable. Its a small price to pay for performance. Also, I question what will happen to the OEM ABS pump if you over use...
Great thread and a fun read, thanks.
Throw some lockers in that Gen 3 and see what you think;). I'm absolutely amazed at how well my Gen 3 with arbs and 33s has been working.
Your right, being able to wheel all day and then drive 80 all the way home is nice.
$600. About 3 years old, located in Grand Junction, co. Local pickup.
The tent is in good shape, includes all hardware, annex and floor. Only known damage is a few tree scuffs on the rain cover (still water proof) and some minor dents on the tent floor.
The tent is always stored indoors when...
I got it today. So far based on initial impression, much better quality than the Tuffstuff and a few of the nagging issues seem to have been resolved.
Once I get a few trips in I'll post an update.
Thanks for the suggestions.
I actually just got the Smittybuilt. With the sales going on it was around $900 shipped to my door. I really needed a King size bed and wanted a hardshell, so that's what lead me to the Ikamper.
As I said, there are a few quality control issues I did not like...
With the kids (4yo and 2yo) getting bigger we need to upgrade roof top tents. I currently have a TuffStuff 3 person tent. Although I have not been a fan of the quality control and feel its made pretty cheap, ultimately its a tent and it has worked well for us, especially considering the...
Weird,
I came from P rated tires on my montero (5500-6000lb) and went to E rated 255 Cooper Maxxs. I can't tell a difference in ride.
So far, great tires that are quite and work well in most conditions.
Are you asking if the fan should ever stop moving while the engine is running?
If so than no, any time you look in the engine bay the fan will be turning. It uses a thermal clutch fan. When cool, even through the fan is turning, the clutch is not locked and it is turning fairly slow. As it...
