This is exactly what I was going to say! I'll add in: Pie! Whatever type you prefer, apple, cherry, rhubarb, etc. Fresh, hot out of the oven pie is best as far out into the woods as you can get.
Baking biscuits while cooking eggs and gravy for breakfast ain't bad either.
We could camp...
Dusty,
We don't own a SoCal Teardrop, we built our own. We also used a SoCal Hinge. Ours leaked enough to puddle on the cabinets also. Here is the excerpt from our build thread where we discovered, repaired, and how we ultimately solved the issue.
At the end of May we had determined that...
Currently I own a first gen 2003 AC Tundra ( for 242,000 miles) and a 2014 DCSB TRD Tacoma.
Both trucks have nearly the same wheelbase. The Tundra is longer and a little wide
Both are comfortable long distance haulers.
The Tundra can travel 50-75 miles further on a tank, but the Tacoma gets...
I have busted the glass on one door (not trail damage just stupidity) but it is fairly easily replaced with a piece of lexan cut to size.
Pinstripes happen you obviously know that. I just buff out what will buff out on the truck and trailer. The rest I leave and just say to myself "at least...
Having a trailer with running boards I can attest to that. They collect rocks, mud and dust very well. There are many occasions that, I have hooked up the water sprayer to wash mud off the running boards before getting into the trailer. The air compressor on the truck works very well to...
Why, oh why do they not sell trucks with rubber floors? Every truck I've owned has been carpeted and it takes almost no time at all for that carpet to be ruined by kids, mud, beach sand, coffee, watermelons, etc. Our Tundra's carpet got so bad we had to replace the smelly thing with a vinyl...
The Shell Game - Jason Work Force Cab Hi Premium
Our cap sat in the garage for a week after we bought it. It sat on sawhorses while I rewired the lights and Beth cleaned it up.
She washed and shined up the exterior and I made sure the brake light and interior light functioned correctly. I used...
Yeah back in the day I was heavy into the medieval stuff. Learned how to use a real sword, made real armour. Went to the Pennsic War for several years in a row, but fighting with real steel is infinitely better than using rattan sticks - more painful sometimes but still better.
Um. No. That's why plate armour was invented.
And, having made an entire shirt of chain mail, I know it's a tedious task to make and probably worth the 12 dollar investment.
I might need to get one of those for our cast iron
Thanks for the great write up! Capitol Reef looks awesome (if your photos don't do it justice it must be Spectacular! in realsies) and is on my Places to Visit file - and thanks to you, now I know of a nearby campground and that the weather is great around Columbus Day!
Power is fine, have never really noticed a loss. I'm sure at this mileage (240,000 now) it's less than new but not enough to make a difference in the big scheme of things.....
Time to (re)Cap!
The Sunday after Thanksgiving we had to take our kids (young adults really) back to their respective colleges. It was raining, and since we have no bed cover for the Wild Crow we loaded up the Sooby with said kids and their luggage. Down the wet road we went - stopping by VCU...
I've got a few things I'd like to sell or trade. Don't know what I'd accept in trade but I'll know it when I see it. I'll be at the Expo on Thursday through Sunday. No idea where I'll be camping but if you see the black Tundra/black teardrop (with crows on it) you'll know it's me......
Zodi...
With an odd twist of fate - that being Beth has continuing education classes to take in Asheville the first of October - means we will actually be attending the Overland Expo this year. If you've been following the thread, enjoying the build, love and/or own a teardrop yourself, or just like to...
