my old boss's wife was paralyzed from the waste down and they went camping all the time. a normal trailer was a real pain as the door ways are narrow and there was no way a wheel chair would fit. then they discovered the toy haulers! his wife would go up and down the ramp alright with some help...
my brother has owned a '97 since new. auto. Never had any problems with it and it just rolled past 300,000 kms! they live in the sticks and his wife drive gravel roads every day and snow all winter. it handles snow amazingly well.
We just changed all the tierods, suspension bushings, ball...
very nice! I am building a samurai right now as well. although its a little rustier than yours! If you haven't wheeled a sammy before you will be amazed. they are soo small they fit anywhere! We take alot of quad trails around here and with some careful spotting through trees they fit (as quads...
nice looking rig. I am thinking of lifting my XL7 and some larger tires as my stock ones are shot. for the price calmini would charge you take the picture to a local fab shop anf they will make it just as nice if not better!
I wish they made a locker for the rear of my XL7 :(
you can get diesel hilux surfs up to '93 imported up here. the 2LTE diesel sucks though! Lots of head problems. I am guessing they changed to the 1KZ when the body style changed in '96? that would be nice!
we use propane for cooking and have an LED lantern that is going on its third year with the same batteires!
I don't use the cannisters as with a little more room a 5-10 lb. tank fits almost anywhere and a long hose helps too. I can switch it from our stove to the lil buddy heater at night to...
I have one of those mr. heaters for ours. it works good but would be nice if it had a thermostat so when it got to tropical levels inside it would shut off! I would go into the trailer about 1/2 hour before bed and turn it on then after we were in bed I would reach out and turn it to pilot. same...
hey very cool! Looks like a shorter version of mine! My 235-75-15 just touch the inside well. I was thinking of getting some 1" wheel spacers to make it better. Also if you look there should be a spot on the hitch reach for those bars to sit in that hold up the bed.
Also if you look at the...
looks like a neat GPS but man does their website suck! how about providing a little more info on a $700 GPS? I noticed the "buy it now" button was large and in charge though.
one question is it independant front suspension?
as for the diesel I don't think it is an option. the vw is a 4cyl and MUCH larger than the 660cc in your rig. plus it wouldn't get much better mileage than you get now!
I have seen one around here with a fabric canopy built on the bed, looks...
I think your best bet would be a roof top tent on a platform def. the lightest. we have these rigs all over up here as they conform to the 25 year old rule and I see them doing 100 km/hr all the time. problem is once you put larger tires and weight in them they slow right down real quick.
look for a coleman colorado model. they have one bed and are super light. I have one that is lifted on 235-75-15 tires and has a 4 step to get in! bare essentials, no stove, fridge, furnace etc. just a slide out bed and a table that folds down into another bed. 6'4 may be a bit of a problem I am...
and made the windows smaller!
as for the tie rods, I think I read they have beefed them up at least in the v8 models. I would not buy an h3 with the 6 cyl. when the LS v8 will get almost the same mileage and better power. its a big vehicle and putting the 5 cyl. makes it horrible. I...
We have three club members with imports right now. One did it through outback, another through mustang and the last did it himself. both done with an importer have been flawless and the condition is amazing. the last that did it himself got a really good deal but it needed some work (80 series)...
