Time for a new front seal on the transmission and a different transfercase. Hello LT230! Good-bye Borg Warner.

Started to do some canvas repair last night. Please excuse the ugliness of my stitching, I am in no ways a professional. I bought a canvas sewing awl last night at Cabela's in Farmington, and then went to town.

That's kind of the going price for one around here in Utah. they are getting harder to find in good running condition. Prices seems to be going up on a lot of Land Rovers, unless its a Freelander.

Also started another important part of the swap. A different transfercase. The Borg Warner transfercase is garbage. This is the second one it's had. The viscous coupler is seized up and makes turning in a full time four wheel truck really bad. So I bought a parts Disco with a good LT230...

Continuing with the upper tailgate today. Cutting and prepping for new metal pieces.

Replacing the rear upper tail gate. This one is a bit rusty. But at least I can weld it back together. I finally used my new RME stickers!

FS: Land Rover R380 Manual 5 Speed Transmission $500 (Layton, UT) It's in good working condition. I pulled it from a running and driving 1994 Land Rover Discovery. Had about 110K miles on it. Didn't grind in any gears, shifted smoothly. I have the truck still, I can include the pedal box...

This thing is so light, I can pull it around with my 25 HP riding lawn mower pretty easily. I won't do it much, because it'll probably burn up the transmission though.

Since I will pull it primarily behind my Range Rover, I'll be swapping out the axle, putting it on 285/75/16 tires and using rover wheels. Then I won't need to worry about spares very much. I've been thinking about using an old M101 trailer as its base as well. I'll start with the basics...
