Pretty sure the entire Astro van front suspension was cribbed from the GM half-ton pickups, providing a simple path to a nearly unlimited supply of replacement and upgrade parts.
I’ve had both. I have the Falkens on my Jeep and one pickup right now. The second pickup will get a set in the Spring. I’ll never be running BFG KMs or KOs ever again. Take that for what it’s worth.
I looked high and low for an M416 but everything I found just needed much more work than I wanted to put into it For what people were asking. For less than it would have cost me to rehab the M416s that I was seeing I ended up ordering a new M416-like trailer, tailored to my wants and needs. I...
I did this install recently. Disconnecting the the whole switch from the brake pedal helps immensely. Also, I mounted the controller box to that plate described above with the switch on that kick panel to the right of the steering column. I lined up the switch with that deep gap you’ll see...
I think that if you feel buffeting on the test then you’ll have found your culprit. I’d the fab up some simple aluminum sheet metal spoilers to mount between the roof and the front edge of the panels. If that solves the issue and you’re confident in the mounts after that point a simple metal...
If it is an an airflow issue, it becomes a matter of tuning that flow. Sometimes it is as easy as a crude air damn in front. Years ago I was assigned a new patrol vehicle. When driven at highway speed the light bar would generate all Kinds of noise against the thin roof from the airflow. In...
The Jeep JKU ECS system pulls its “turn” status from the position of the steering wheel clockspring. If the steering wheel is not centered correctly the ECS misreads this information. If the steering wheel is outside of position too far several dash lights are triggered.
Thanks for the picture, it helps for my visualizing the issue and helps dispel some thoughts I had on the cracking. The roof is quite flat so bridging between mounts from a curved roof isn’t an issue. Nor should thermal changes in dimensions causing stress be an issue unless those panels were...
By the looks of it from that angle there was a significant amount of tension between the the screw and the mount. I’m betting there‘s indications on the brackets underneath the panels of vibration from air flow/air pressure under the panels while driving. I wonder too in there’s curve to the...
This thread fascinates me because I ordered my trailer with a fixed high tube mount for my RTT. I'm afraid that it might be too tall for my garage once the RTT is affixed so having an idea for modifications or a change-up is a plus. Anxious to see the struts in play.
